Black Templars: Heroes of the Eternal Crusade – Part 10

Title: “Ancient Warriors, Sacred Relics: The Black Templars’ Relentless Crusade”

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are tales of courage, sacrifice, and unyielding faith. Consider, if you will, the Black Templars: a Space Marine Chapter whose history is wreathed in honor and bloodshed. It is a saga marked by epic battles, sacred relics, and the relentless pursuit of the Emperor’s justice.

Picture two ancient warriors, their weapons raised high and their hearts burning with the flame of battle. The Primarch-slaying Lightning Claw, known as the Talon of Horus, meets the Ebon-bladed Black Sword in a clash of titanic power. This was no ordinary battle, but a fight unto death between Sigismund, the Black Templars’ High Marshal, and Abidan, the Despoiler. A duel that ended with Sigismund’s noble sacrifice and Abidan declaring the start of the Long War against the servants of the Emperor.

Yet, in death, Sigismund’s legacy remains vibrant and alive. His body was returned to Terra aboard a captured Black Templars’ Frigate, a testament to his undying valor. The Black Templars honor him and their other fallen heroes through their innumerable prized relics and holy artifacts. These sacred objects serve as beacons of faith, reminders of their glorious past, and tools for their ceaseless crusades.

Among the revered relics is the ‘Ancient Bravery,’ a prayer book that once belonged to the first High Chaplain of the Black Templars. Each word in this book carries immense weight, bolstering the resolve of the Chapter’s battle-brothers on the eve of battle.

Then, we have the ‘Armor of Faith,’ a magnificent suit of Artificer Armor. This armor, inscribed with sacred wards and catechisms of hatred, offers protection beyond any ordinary suit. It turns aside blows and rounds, flashing them into oblivion with divine power. This armor allows the Emperor’s Champion to fulfill his sacred duty under the Emperor’s divine protection.

Another noteworthy artifact is the ‘Armor of the Remorseless Crusader.’ Part of a trinity of Artificer Armor crafted by the Black Templars, this suit is said to have the blood of saints layered into the thousand-folded adamantite of its construction. Its siblings, the Armors of the Pitiless and Fearless Crusaders, remain with the chapter, while the Remorseless Crusader’s armor was gifted to the Deathwatch.

The ‘Black Sword of Sigismund,’ the legendary weapon wielded by the first Captain Sigismund, rests in the most sacred chapel of the Black Templars. This massive two-handed power sword, paired with the Armor of Faith, becomes a deadly weapon in the hands of the chosen Black Templar.

Among these artifacts, the ‘Chain of Zeal’ stands out. More than a mere devotion chain, it is a symbol of unending commitment. Its wearer must keep his armored glove dawned and weapon in hand every minute for the rest of his days. To remove it is considered a deep dishonor.

Lastly, the ‘Cabit Servator,’ a symbol of faith and trust in the chapter. These servitors assist the Black Templars’ Chaplain with their holy duties, carrying relics into battle, and bolstering the faith of nearby battle brothers. It is a symbol of status, and the trust bestowed upon a Black Templar by his peers.

These relics and artifacts are not just items; they are embodiments of the Black Templars’ faith, courage, and commitment to their Emperor. They serve as constant reminders of the chapter’s glorious past and the duty that lies ahead. Each one tells a story, a chapter in the unending saga of the Black Templars’ relentless crusade in Warhammer 40,000 universe.
