In the looming shadow of the universe’s end, an army of celestial entities prepares for their final stand. At their helm, the last Archangel of The Unborn, a figure of dread and awe, a spectral embodiment of his father’s fallen glory. Yet to the Imperium of Man, he is a beacon of hope. His golden mask, endlessly weeping frozen tears, is a symbol of tenacity, of endless bravery marred with countless sorrows. This figure who never smiles is none other than Dante, known in his mortal years as Luish.
Born under the scorching suns of the Second Moon of Bal, Luish was raised amid the sand dunes and human clans. From an early age, he was captivated by tales of the Emperor’s Angels, those divine warriors who stood guard against the horrors lurking in the galaxy. Determined to join their ranks, Luish nurtured a strength that defied the poisoned environment of his homeworld.
Against his father’s wishes, he sought the slim chance to become a Space Marine and embarked on a daring journey to the selection location. On a night shrouded in secrecy, Luish departed his home, pilfering a string of lead coins from his father’s strong box – an act that left a bitter taste in his mouth, but one he justified as a necessary sacrifice.
His last night in the caravan was marked by a heartfelt conversation with his father, a memory that would haunt him throughout his journey. Bidding a quiet farewell to his old life, he set off into the unknown, carrying his meager belongings, a salt pack, water, his rad suit, and the guilt of his departure.
His journey was fraught with perils and he found himself on the brink of death numerous times. Yet, each time, a vision of a golden angel urged him to survive. This spectral entity was his guiding light, his beacon of hope amidst the desolation.
In his travels, Luish found companionship in two fellow aspirants, Denil and Florian. They shared his dream and his resolve. Their journey took them to Angel’s fall, the legendary site where Sanguinius, the Angelic Primarch, first took to the skies. Here, they would need wings to reach the city.
An unfortunate encounter with a liquid predator cost Denil his life, but in his death, Luish acquired the wings necessary for his ascension. Standing at the precipice of Angel’s fall, he took his leap of faith. With a defiant scream, he leapt into the sky, embodying the spirit of Sanguinius himself.
This is the tale of Dante, a saga of determination, sacrifice, and the relentless pursuit of an ideal. A tale that echoes across the cosmos in the form of a golden mask eternally weeping frozen tears.
