Welcome back for another installment in our multi-part series exploring the dark, violent, and tumultuous universe of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we delve into the terrifying saga of the legendary Skulltaker and his demonic steed, Kul’tiran.
In the vast cosmos of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, few duos wreak as much havoc as the Skulltaker and his mount, Kul’tiran. This fearsome pair has left a trail of destruction stretching across the galaxy, with the Imperium bearing the brunt of their nefarious deeds. The pair’s modus operandi is simple and gruesome – collecting countless skulls as trophies for the bloodthirsty deity, Khorne.
The story of how Skulltaker acquired Kul’tiran is one steeped in violence and chaos. It was in the infernal forges of Khorne that the Skulltaker laid eyes on Kul’tiran – a beast of a Juggernaut that had slain more of its kin than any other. The beast had a fiery spirit, always prowling the edges of its pen, forever seeking an escape. It was this spirit that drew the Skulltaker, and the duo has been inseparable since.
Together, they have waged war across countless planets, dealing death and destruction in their wake. Whether it was Orc Warlords or Eldar Exarchs, none have been able to withstand their onslaught. The Skulltaker, with his Slayer sword, and Kul’tiran, with its ability to tear through armor and flesh alike, became Khorne’s favorite champions. So pleased was Khorne with their acts of violence that Kul’tiran was given the unique privilege to tread upon the smoky corridors of the Brazen Fortress.
But the tales of terror don’t end there. On the agriworld of Dia, a variant species of Juggernauts known as the Blood Stalkers unleashed a reign of terror. Unlike their kin, these beasts were methodical, picking off isolated sentries and annihilating scout clusters, leaving trails of headless corpses as their calling card. The fear they instilled was so potent that it paved the way for a demonic surge that led to the planet’s collapse.
Similarly, in the slums of Balon’s Gate, a surge in psychic energy led to the awakening of a pack of Blood Crushers from the warp. These ethereal juggernauts rampaged through the hive city, hunting down psychics with a ruthless efficiency that sent shockwaves through the psychic realm of the warp.
And let’s not forget the jungle-covered world of Bengoli 5. Here, Blood Crushers led a massive demonic incursion, obliterating shrines and relics of the Ecclesiarchy. Despite a fierce retaliation from the Katakans, the demonic cavalry was unstoppable, forcing the defenders into a tactical retreat that would ultimately lead to their demise.
The tales of the Skulltaker and his mount Kul’tiran, the Blood Stalkers, and the Blood Crushers all serve to illustrate the unending terror and chaos that the followers of Khorne bring to the universe of Warhammer 40,000. Stay tuned for more tales of grim darkness in the far future.
