Welcome, fellow brothers in arms, to another thrilling episode of our journey through the awe-inspiring lore of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we delve into an aspect of the Raven Guard’s brotherhood that demands the utmost respect and admiration – the Third and Fourth Companies.
The Third Company, often referred to as the ‘Ghostly Hunters’, is a testament to the ruthless and uncompromising teachings of KX. These intrepid warriors strive to achieve mastery in the art of ambush, an aspect considered vital to balance the Raven Guard’s proclivity for thoughtful vigilance. Fast-moving squads, their modus operandi, encircle and annihilate enemy forces systematically, always retreating to strike elsewhere before the enemy’s counter strikes.
The Third Company’s daring tactics are supported by jump pack soldiers and land speeders, traditional bulwarks, and the precision of drop pod assaults. This audacity, however, stands in stark contrast to the Raven Guard’s contemplative brotherhood, often earning the Third Company an aloof regard from their brethren.
There’s a bloody, albeit noble price paid for the Third Company’s courage. The company is always understrength, a testament to their ferocious clashes with the enemy. But it’s noteworthy that more Shadow Masters have risen from this band of ghost stalkers than any other, a tribute to the currency of courage that humanity’s survival is traded in.
Moving onto the Fourth Company, or ‘The Silent’ as they’re known, we delve into the second aspect of the Trifold Path of Shadow. The Silent are the epitome of stealth, becoming one with the environment in which they hunt, and existing in the spaces between sounds. These warriors draw inspiration from their Primarch, rumored to remain unnoticed even in broad daylight if he so wished.
The Silent are methodical and thoughtful, often deployed in long, arduous campaigns where positioning and strategy take precedence over raw fury. They penetrate deep into enemy lines, subtly destabilizing the enemy’s resolve with precise operations of sabotage and destruction. The Silent are true to their name – they do not utter a word in battle, communicating instead through encoded Vox picks or gestures in a secret language known as Corsack.
The Fourth Company specializes in infantry warfare, their stealthy approach leaving little room for armored assault. However, the recent shocks of the Indomitus era have seen an increase in the use of Repulsor tanks. These anti-gravitational generators mitigate some disadvantages of conventional vehicles, with the wrath of Repulsor cannons now blazing alongside infantry bolter fire. The Shadow Captain of the Fourth Company traditionally doubles as a Master of the Fleet, their unique capabilities providing target data for the orbital battle fleet and disabling or destroying defense measures.
Stay tuned for more tales of valor and bravery as we continue our exploration into the remarkable world of Warhammer 40,000. Until next time, brothers.
