The Sabbat Worlds Crusade: The Blood Pact Threat – Part 10

Title: The Iron Snakes’ Epic Struggle and the Rise of the New Archon: A Chronicle of the 41st Millennium

Greetings, fellow lore seekers! Today, we dive into another chapter of our multi-part series, focusing on the tumultuous events that have marked the battles of the 41st Millennium. This time, we delve deep into the gritty tales of the Iron Snakes, their incredible victories, the fall of the Emperor’s servants at Paop, and the rise of an ominous new Archon.

The Iron Snakes, an indomitable chapter of the Space Marines, fought valiantly in the liberation of multiple planets, including Pararius, Sapiencia, Monx, Prince Obid, Voltimand, Albrech, and the Fortis Binary. A particularly noteworthy battle took place on Pararius, where the Iron Snakes proved their worth against a mechanized mutant underclass in the tectonic foundries beneath the main Hive cities.

Twice cut off from the Imperial Supply lines and finally running out of ammunition, the Iron Snakes resorted to brutal hand-to-hand combat. The fierce battle raged on for nine solar days, culminating in near-total annihilation of the mutants with the loss of just 39 battle-brothers. A testament to their courage, the Silver Guard’s Master Vegum honored the Iron Snakes by having his Marines bow bareheaded in salute upon their triumphant return.

Yet, the 41st Millennium was not without its horrors. One such tragedy was the disaster at Paop, where the Emperor’s servants suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Magister Cooks, a notorious agent of Chaos. The Imperial force, led by General Onitor, fell into a trap, surrounded and outflanked in the Cerad Highlands. The fate of Onitor and his remaining men remains a suppressed secret, hidden by the Inquisition for morale reasons.

Following this bloody triumph, Cooks pursued and destroyed the Crusade Fleet that had brought Onitor and his allies to Paop, resulting in the third largest single fleet engagement of the campaign. This victory for Chaos left behind a vast debris field known as the Antioch Debris Field, serving as a bleak reminder of human hubris.

In the midst of these tumultuous events, the forces of Chaos selected a new leader, the Aron Erock Gar, whose rise coincided with the Crusade’s advance into the Cabal systems. Gifted in military strategy, the new Archon orchestrated the Chaos forces with brutal efficiency. His strength lay in his bodyguard force, the Blood Pacted, a fighting unit modeled after the Astra Militarum itself.

As the Archon’s influence grew, so did the Blood Pacted, evolving from a mere bodyguard force into an army. The first sign of Erock Gar’s power came when he led a series of lightning raids along the Corwood Fringe of the KH group. The Imperial forces initially mistook these attacks for the acts of a militant Magister, only to realize they were dealing with a far more deadly adversary. By 772 of the 41st Millennium, there was no doubt: Erock Gar was the new Archon of the Archen enemy forces, marking a drastically ominous turn of events in the 41st Millennium.

Stay tuned for the next installment, where we’ll plunge deeper into the unfolding saga of the 41st Millennium. Until then, let the Emperor guide our path in the grim darkness of the far future.
