In the grim darkness of the far future, the tale of Bronislaw Czevak is one of intrigue, courage, and relentless quest for knowledge. The 400-year-old Inquisitor, against the counsel of his companions, accepted an inviting, yet treacherous journey with the Harlequins into the labyrinthine Webway, arriving at the enigmatic Black Library. To assist in deciphering cryptic information, the ever-loyal Interrogator Ramos Clu injected Czevak with a meme-virus, a controversial yet effective method for knowledge assimilation.
The artificial world of the Black Library became Czevak’s home and sanctuary. His time was consumed within the mysterious Wraith Tower, scrutinizing the data collected about the insidious force of Chaos. Life within the Webway took an unexpected turn, Czevak found himself rejuvenated, shedding the cryo suit that had been his life-support for years.
The return of this resurrected figure to the Imperium was hailed as a significant political occurrence. Bronislaw Czevak, now seen as a radical savior by the Inquisitors, was reinstated to his position within the Conclave. Even the Puritans, despite their disdain for him, yearned for the knowledge he had amassed. The Conclave, recognizing the importance of his knowledge, tasked Cluter, a newly minted Inquisitor, with the crucial duty of protecting Czevak.
However, the tranquility was short-lived. The onset of the 13th Black Crusade saw Czevak captured by the Thousand Sons and subjected to the infernal tortures on the personal flagship of Ahriman, the Sorcerer. Despite the excruciating pain and mental torment, Czevak safeguarded the secrets of the Black Library. His resolve remained unbroken, even when his long-lost love, canonized as a living Saint, was used to break him.
The cruel machinations of the Thousand Sons were interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the Harlequins, who rescued Czevak from Ahriman’s clutches and brought him back to the Black Library. This time, however, he found himself a prisoner within the Wraith Tower. Despite the circumstances, Czevak continued his study of combating Chaos, his body recovering thanks to the restorative properties of Wraithbone and medical intervention.
Czevak’s entrapment stirred the Black Council into action, with many members advocating for his eternal imprisonment to ensure the safety of the Alari. However, the Seer Iil, a figure from Czevak’s past, presented a different perspective. He saw the Inquisitor’s potential usefulness to the Alari and orchestrated an escape plan involving his daughter, Adara K.
Equipped with the Atlas Inerfal, a living map of the Webway, Czevak escaped the Black Library, outwitting the pursuing Harlequins. His return journey through the Webway was marked by contemplation of vengeance against Ahriman. Upon reuniting with his old mentor Clute, Czevak embarked on a self-proclaimed crusade against his tormentor.
Czevak’s return to the Imperium sparked interest across the galaxy, making him a coveted prize for the Imperium, the Eldar, and the Agents of Chaos. The unpredictable and eccentric Bronislaw Czevak emerged as a worthy adversary for all enemies of the Emperor of Mankind, a force to be reckoned with, much like the Lord Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus, the stern judge Salem Proctor Fodor Karamazov.
