Space Wolves Warhammer 40K – Part 1 (Part 1 of 13)

The Fierce Warriors of Fenris

In the harsh, icy landscape of Fenris, a planet ravaged by extreme climate conditions, the Space Wolves recruit their ranks and call home. This death world, located in the galactic north of Segmentum Solar, is where the mighty Space Wolves chapter was forged.

A History of Ferocity

During the Great Crusade, the Space Wolves gained a reputation as the Emperor’s executioners and instruments of punishment. Their primarch, Leman Russ, directed his descendants to live a life of constant warfare and migration, ensuring they remained strong and able. This legacy continues to shape the culture of the Space Wolves, who are notorious throughout the Imperium for their ferocity in battle and defiance of authority.

The Unyielding Planet

Fenris is a world of fire and ice, where the native Fenrisians must adapt to survive. The planet’s extreme winter months see temperatures drop so low that even the oceans ice over, while the short summer months bring burning lava flows and massive tidal waves. This relentless environment has bred a hardy population, who must settle new lands quickly or risk extinction.

The Axe of Life

In this unforgiving world, the child-gift is always the axe. From birth, the young Fenrisian must grasp the axe to prove their worth, lest they be cast into the frozen seas. This brutal tradition ensures only the strongest survive, and it is this unyielding spirit that defines the Space Wolves.

The Hall of the Gods

On the remote continent of Asaheim, the Sky Warriors of Russ await the final battle at the end of the universe. The ultimate triumph of Fenrisian culture is to become one of the chosen Sons of Russ, and it is here that the Space Wolves house their fortress, The Fang. This imposing stronghold rises above the clouds, where the space-faring vessels of the Rout are docked.

A Legacy of Battle

The Space Wolves’ history is marked by countless battles, from the Great Crusade to the Horus Heresy. Their symbol, the Fenrisian wolf, is a deadly predator with wits as sharp as its teeth. Though lethal on its own, the wolf is even more formidable in packs, reflecting the Space Wolves’ own unyielding loyalty and ferocity in combat.

The Unbreakable Bond

The bond between the Space Wolves and their primarch, Leman Russ, is unbreakable. It is a testament to the unwavering loyalty and dedication that defines this iconic chapter. Through the ages, the Space Wolves have remained true to their heritage, upholding the values of strength, courage, and honor that have made them one of the most revered chapters in the Imperium.
