The Throneworld of Terra: A Hub of Human Civilization
Terra, the birthplace of humanity, is a planet teeming with life and activity. With a population of untold billions, it is a world of endless causeways, stretching across both above and below its surface. The transportation networks are divided into three groups: the Via Ordinaria, used by the commoners; the Via Exclusiva, used by security personnel; and the Via Prohibida, reserved for the highest echelons of Imperial society.
A World of Contrasts
Terra is a world of contrasts, where incredible wealth and extreme poverty coexist. The planet requires tremendous amounts of resources to be shipped in from off-world to sustain its gargantuan population, making it dependent on daily shipments from thousands of vessels. Without these shipments, Terra would quickly starve and plunge into anarchy. The Imperial Tithe, a tax imposed on all planets in the Imperium, ultimately benefits Terra, making it a site of both grandeur and decay.
Military Might
As the throneworld of the Emperor of Mankind, Terra is among the most heavily defended worlds within the Imperium. The planet’s defenses include forces from Battlefleet Solar, the Phalanx, Imperial Guard Regiments, and the Adeptus Custodes, among others. The Convent Prioris of the Adepta Sororitas, the Sisters of Silence, and the Legio Ignatum Titan Legion also maintain a presence on the planet.
Notable Locations
Terra is home to many notable locations, including the Hive Cities of Tashkent, Salvator, and Malliax. The planet’s surface is also scarred by the ruins of White Mountain, an abandoned fortress used as an anti-Psyker prison during the Horus Heresy. The Walking City, a mobile industrial city, perpetually walks across the equator of Terra, while the Courvain Inquisition Fortress and the Garden of Saints are also located on the planet.
Economy and Infrastructure
Terra’s economy is heavily dependent on imports, with the planet consuming everything and producing nothing. The Imperial Tithe is used to sustain the planet’s population, but it also creates a culture of dependency. The planet’s infrastructure is vast, with endless causeways and transportation networks connecting its many cities and settlements.
A Hub of Human Civilization
Terra is a hub of human civilization, a world of contrasts where wealth and poverty coexist. Its military might is formidable, with many notable locations and institutions calling the planet home. Despite its many challenges, Terra remains a beacon of hope for humanity, a symbol of the Imperium’s power and resilience.
