The Thousand Sons: A Legion of Chaos
Early Campaigns
The Thousand Sons, one of the most infamous Legions of Chaos, were instrumental in shaping the galaxy through their numerous campaigns. One of their earliest engagements was the Pacification of the Boeotian Lowlands on Terra, which marked the beginning of their long and bloody history.
In the years that followed, the Thousand Sons participated in several key battles, including the Acceredine Defiance, where they defeated the Acceredine Enclave on the world of Castus. They also played a crucial role in the Compliance Action on Ostratis, where they joined forces with the Dusk Raiders to subdue the planet’s colonies.
Notable Battles
The Thousand Sons’ military prowess was demonstrated in several notable battles, including the Rout of Megorania, where they drove back a massive force of Orks from the crippled Titans of the Legio Lacrimae. This victory earned them oaths of perpetual kinship from the Legio Lacrimae.
Another significant battle was the Devastation of Zoah, where the Thousand Sons fought alongside the Night Lords to devastating effect. Their skill in combat was further demonstrated on the planet of Valnum, where a small force of sixty legionaries led by Captain Ohrmuzd defeated the entire House Cratax in a battle lasting only five hundred seconds.
The Horus Heresy
The Thousand Sons’ loyalty to the Emperor was tested during the Horus Heresy, where they ultimately sided with the traitors. They played a key role in several battles, including the Burning of Prospero, where they defended their homeworld against the Space Wolves.
Despite their valiant efforts, the Thousand Sons were ultimately defeated and forced to flee. They continued to fight on, participating in several battles, including the Battle of Yarant and the Siege of Inwit.
Post-Heresy
In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Thousand Sons continued to wreak havoc across the galaxy. They allied with Ezekyle Abaddon to destroy the clone of Horus and fought against the Space Wolves on the planet of Garm.
One of their most notable battles during this period was the Battle of the Fang, a full-scale planetary invasion of the Space Wolves’ homeworld. Although they were ultimately defeated, the Thousand Sons proved themselves to be a formidable foe.
Current Deployments
The Thousand Sons continue to be a major force in the galaxy, with various warbands and factions operating across the stars. Their Rubric Marines have been known to leave devastation in their wake, as seen in the Feral War on the planet of Aggaros.
Their Prodigal Sons faction has also been active, battling against the Inquisition on the planet of Apollonia. As the Thousand Sons continue to evolve and adapt, one thing remains certain: they will always be a force to be reckoned with in the grim darkness of the far future.
