Turning the Tide Against the Orks
In a bold move, Lord Commander Koorland set out to curb the Martian Mechanicum’s scheming, which had been secretly experimenting with Ork technology. The Mechanicum had detained Tech-Priest Eldon Urquidex, who possessed knowledge of the Beast’s origins, and slaughtered an Officio Assassinorum investigation team.
Confrontation on Mars
A force of Fists Exemplar, led by Chapter Master Thane, was dispatched to Mars to take Urquidex into custody. However, upon landing, they were met by a large force of Skitarii, Electro-Priests, and Legio Cybernetica under Argus Van Auken. The two sides engaged in a tense standoff, with Thane advancing towards Urquidex’s position on Pavonis Mons. Disaster struck when a warning shot from a Mechanicum Onager Dunecrawler accidentally hit an incoming Exemplar Drop Pod, leading to a brief but vicious battle.
Unity in the Face of Adversity
Fabricator-General Kubik intervened, sending a unilateral ceasefire order to Van Auken, who quickly complied. The Fists Exemplar took Urquidex into custody, and Kubik revealed the extent of his experimentation with Ork teleportation technology. With this newfound knowledge, Koorland and his allies discovered that the Beast’s homeworld was Ullanor and dispatched a call to gather at Terra for a massive counteroffensive.
The Return of Vulkan
Koorland received crucial information from Inquisitorial Representative Veritus, learning that the lost Primarch Vulkan had been spotted fighting openly on the Ork-besieged world of Caldera. A scattered force of combined Imperial forces rushed to Caldera, where they found Vulkan holding back the Ork invasion almost single-handedly.
Saving Caldera
Despite the Primarch’s best efforts, Caldera was ultimately doomed. The Orks were draining the planet’s surface and core into orbit with a gravitic generator. Koorland and his allies joined forces with Vulkan to destroy the generator, with the Primarch throwing himself into the gravitic beam to save the planet.
Marching on Ullanor
With Caldera saved, Vulkan journeyed with Koorland back to Terra, where the Imperial host waited to march on Ullanor. Vulkan proclaimed that he would lead the might of the Imperium to Ullanor and slay the Beast once and for all.
Counterattack Ullanor
The stage was set for a massive counteroffensive against the Orks. The fate of humanity hung in the balance, and the Imperium’s greatest heroes prepared to face their greatest challenge yet.
