In the vast cosmos of Warhammer 40,000, the might of the Dreadnought stands as an unparalleled symbol of the Imperium’s martial prowess. These awe-inspiring leviathans of war command not just their interment in a sarcophagus but also their deployment, often leaving their squad’s leadership in the dust as they charge headfirst into battle, adhering to the commands of long-fallen warlords.
Today, we delve into the mysteries and the sheer force of one such Dreadnought model – the Leviathan. A formidable beast of war, the Leviathan’s primary role is the breach of enemy fortifications and the obliteration of armored machinery and Titanic beings. With a design that seems to be a hybrid of the Contemptor and Castrum Dreadnoughts, the Leviathan stands taller, matching its counterparts in bulk and overpowering them in terms of armor thickness. Shielded with atomantic shielding and armed with Siege claws, the Leviathan is a force to be reckoned with.
This Dreadnought can be armed with Siege drills, a Leviathan storm Cannon, a grav flux bombard, and a cyclonic melter Lance. To supplement its armament, it employs a missile launcher equipped with hunter-killer missiles or hull-mounted grenade launchers deploying phosex projectiles.
However, the Leviathan isn’t the only Dreadnought that deserves recognition. Enter the D Deo, the latest Dreadnought model from the dawn of the Imperium. This behemoth bears a bloated resemblance to the venerable Contemptor class but harnesses many of its technological advancements. Its primary role lies in delivering thunderous heavy fire support, a role it fulfills with fervent zeal.
The D Deo’s armory includes twin-linked Anilus autocannon batteries, an Iolos missile launcher, heavy flamers, bolter weaponry, and devastating Hellfire heavy plasma guns. This Dreadnought can also be outfitted with Vulkite Falconets or the fearsome Arachnus heavy laser cannons.
As we delve deeper into the realm of Dreadnoughts, we encounter the Redemptor. Engineered specifically for the new generation of Aartis, the Redemptor mirrors the Leviathan in sheer bulk. The technological sophistication of this Dreadnought surpasses the standard Castrum model. It can maneuver with a grace and velocity unattainable by its predecessors. Yet, despite its technological advancements, it comes at a heavy cost – the lives of its pilots. For the Redemptor, little concern was given to its future pilots during its creation, as over time, the neural links eviscerate the inhabitants of its sarcophagus.
In the melee, the Dreadnought relies on its might with the Redemptive Fist and heavy flamethrowers enshrined within its very chassis. The Redemptive Fist, in essence, diverges not from the standard Gauntlet of the Castrum pattern, save for the fingers of the Redemptor arrayed in…
In our next installment, we will continue to explore the fascinating world of Warhammer 40,000’s Dreadnoughts. Their might, their mystery, and their martial prowess. Stay tuned, and remember – in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
