Loyal Iron Warriors – Part 2

In the latest installment of our deep dive into Warhammer 40,000 lore, we’re turning our attention to a dynamic duo whose relationship is as tumultuous as it is intriguing. The spotlight falls on Cassian, the commanding force, and Grave Walker, his confidant and trusted advisor. Their unity was a sight to behold, their presence on the battlefield against the forces of Horus an emblem of determination and resilience. Yet, the final fate of Grave Walker, whether he perished or survived, remains shrouded in mystery.

Meanwhile, the battlefield saw another dramatic confrontation. The Castellan robots, a symbol of unyielding might and technological prowess, suffered a crushing defeat. The Terminators, their adversaries, swiftly, and efficiently took them down, their guns blasting at point-blank range. As the last automaton crumbled, a new player stepped onto the stage – the charismatic captain of the Alpha Legion.

He emerged seemingly out of the void, his hand raised in a gesture that was as much a greeting as it was a challenge. The War Smith, Nador, was less than pleased. The fortress’s guns were still raining fire, and the Alpha Legion was nowhere to be found. Nador’s voice, amplified by his armor’s Vox system, rumbled with dissatisfaction, questioning the captain’s absence and the performance of his warriors.

The Alpha Legionnaire, Arillus, responded with an explanation that reeked of excuses. He claimed that penetrating the fortress’s defenses, held by corpse-worshipping fanatics, had proven more difficult than anticipated. Nador, however, harbored little affection for the Alpha Legion, considering them unfit for war and perpetually reliant on others.

His suspicions were further fueled by the mysterious absence of his patrols, some of which were found decapitated, their heads blown off by Bolter fire. The absence of any traces of the Raven Guard or other Loyalist Marines led him to suspect foul play. His advisers only amplified these suspicions, whispering about ancient alliances and betrayals.

As the situation unfolded, Nador learned about Arillus’s ties to Abdon the Despoiler, a figure openly despised by the Warsmith and deemed a pathetic imitation of Horus. Despite his disdain, Nador never silenced the old Teran. It was only when he learned about the siege of Cavella 4 and Abdon’s apparent involvement that his patience snapped.

In a grand spectacle reminiscent of Fulgrim’s show on the Hydra Cordus, Nador confronted Arillus. He recounted the story of Kier Valin, a former Warsmith of the 77th Grand Battalion, a figure as enigmatic as the Alpha Legionnaires themselves. Valin, a rumored former slave on the xenos planet Mea, rose through the ranks due to his skill and resilience, earning the epithet of Shatterblade.

Valin’s history served as a backdrop for Nador’s confrontation with Arillus. Accusing him of betrayal, Nador castigated Arillus for his allegiance to Abdon and his underhanded tactics. The encounter ended in bloodshed, with Nador gunning down Arillus and declaring the Alpha Legionnaires dead, turning his attention back to the bombardment of the Fortress.

As the debris of the Alpha Legion’s Serpent Cruiser fell, Nador’s voice echoed over the Vox, a chilling reminder of the treachery and the high stakes of allegiance in the unforgiving universe of Warhammer 40,000. Tune in next time as we delve further into the machinations of the Iron Warriors and the Alpha Legion, and the intricate web of alliances and betrayals that shape the grimdark future.
