Lion El’Jonson vs Angron – Part 1

Welcome back, fellow lore enthusiasts, to another deep dive into the rich universe of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we find ourselves plunged into the grim darkness of the far future where war is not just an occurrence but an omnipresent reality. The echoes of countless battles, from the ancient War in the Heavens to the infamous Horus Heresy, reverberate across the cosmos. From one end of the galaxy to the other, the skies of countless worlds blaze with conflict, and the ground is stained with blood. The laughter of ruthless gods resonates through the universe, their amusement drawn from the never-ending cycle of carnage and slaughter.

Yet, the wheel of time remains undeterred, turning one page of history after another. The 13th Black Crusade of the Despoiler, rather than marking an end, merely turned a page. The fall of Cadia, a cataclysmic event that literally split the galaxy in two, isolated a vast part of the Imperium from the guiding light of the Astronomican.

In this era of bleakness, humanity needed a beacon of hope, a figure to bind the crumbling Imperium together and lead a mighty army against the onslaught of destructive forces. Enter Iyanna Arienal, the Eldar witch who had become a conduit for the will of Ynnead, the awakening Eldar God of Death. In a move to preserve her race and humanity alike, she helped resurrect Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines, back to the world of the living.

The flames of hatred and rage run rampant across the galaxy, with humanity on the brink of annihilation. Despite this, we must find unity in our faith and stand firm against the destructive forces threatening our existence. The Imperium will overcome the scar of chaos, one step at a time, in this darkest hour.

When all seemed lost, the galaxy was illuminated by a bright guiding light: The Indomitus Crusade. As Roboute Guilliman stood on Terra before the Golden Throne, the armies of the Imperium were retreating under the onslaught of chaos. The 13th Black Crusade of Abaddon, coupled with the demonic Primarchs Magnus and Mortarion wreaking havoc across the galaxy, left death, destruction, decay, and vice in their wake. The Emperor’s guiding beacon went out and the Star Continent was plunged into darkness.

The aftermath of the Eternal Night revealed a horrific warp rift that split the galaxy in two, leaving many planets defenseless against traitors, heretics, and demons. Guilliman made a solemn vow to save these worlds and thus, the Indomitus Crusade began.

In this desperate hour, Guilliman was entrusted with the secret of the Primaris Space Marines, a new phase of Astartes evolution that had been ten thousand years in the making. Accompanied by a division of the Adeptus Custodes, a small contingent of the Sisters of Silence, and a vast army of Primaris Space Marines from newly founded chapters, the Lord Commander set off into space. Half a dozen pre-existing chapters, led by the Imperial Fists, soon joined his fleet, marking a new era of legends.

Throughout this grand crusade, Guilliman’s armies brought aid to beleaguered planets, breaking sieges and sweeping away invaders. This resurgence of hope spread like wildfire across the galaxy, and every world capable of receiving Astropathic messages celebrated the return of their mythological hero.

However, the forces of chaos were not idle. The Despoiler laid siege to Vigilus, a key waypoint for travel to the other side of the Great Rift. A mere 12 years into the Indomitus Crusade, the galaxy quaked with the return of another Primarch: Mortarion. Leader of the Death Guard, he descended upon the worlds of Ultramar, beginning the Plague Wars. The vile diseases he unleashed, such as the Crawling Pustulence, the Plague That Walks, and the Oozing Pox, decimated overpopulated Hive Worlds.

Yet, despite the odds, the Imperium stands determined to fight. “Let them flee under cover of their virus bomb, by the Emperor, they will pay ten times over for the evil they have done in Ultramar,” echoes across the galaxy. The Lord of Decay may have made his greatest effort to triumph, but the seeds of hope are still alive, and the fight for the survival of the Imperium continues.
