The Battle of Cadia: Beginning of the 13th Black Crusade – Part 14

Welcome back, fellow lore masters, to another exciting installment of our Warhammer 40,000 series. In this thrilling episode, we delve into the mysterious exploits of Commander Articus Bardan and his enigmatic chapter, the Relictors.

Our journey begins post-action where Commander Bardan’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge Imperial communications sets the stage for a series of dramatic events. The relics, having made appearances in several other campaigns, find themselves in the Cader system. Here, they join the offensive against the Word Bearers Traitor Legion on Subiaco Diablo, an event shrouded in mystery as an Inquisitorial task force vanishes under suspicious circumstances.

The Relictors’ journey doesn’t end there. They make their presence felt in the Cadian sector, clashing with a Night Lord’s force at Exil Minor and engaging Duari Raiders at Xeria. Their next stop is near Cadia itself. On their arrival, Logan Grimnar, the venerable Space Wolves Chapter Master, orders them to reinforce the Imperial garrisons of Cadia. But true to form, Commander Bardan refuses, and his fleet departs for the Agri world of Femas, much to Grimnar’s fury.

Grimnar’s elite Wolf Scouts are dispatched to track down the Relictors and uncover their true mission. The trail leads them to the remote Diamides Archive, where the Relictors had repulsed a Chaos attack before turning on the Archive’s defenders. The Relictors’ actions at the Archive, particularly their interest in the sealed stasis vault at the heart of the mountain-top fortress, put their chapter in direct conflict with both the Inquisition and the high Lords of Terra. The contents of the vault, known to only a few adepts in the Imperium, remain a mystery and a source of intrigue.

Meanwhile, the Imperial Navy holds a desperate line against relentless Chaos fleets. A turning point arrives as a massive fleet, the largest since the Gothic War, is dispatched and assembled at Bellis Corona. This vast armada provides much-needed relief to the Imperial vessels, allowing for bolstering of depleted crews and hasty repairs on the most damaged ships.

The battle rages on, with the Imperial Navy managing to repel the Chaos War Fleets and the Eldari fleets mysteriously drawn away from the Cadian gate. The Imperium’s iron fist is slowly but surely being brought to bear. But the situation is complicated by reports of Ork mercenaries joining the fray. Lord Admiral Quaran, commanding the Imperial Navy assets in the Cadian system, repeatedly defeats Chaos War Fleets much larger than his own, allowing reinforcements to reach the fortress worlds.

As we leave you on this cliffhanger, remember that in the grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000, there is only war. So, until our next installment, keep your power armor polished and your bolters loaded. The Emperor protects!
