The Sabbat Worlds Crusade: The Blood Pact Threat – Part 4

In the year 756 of the 41st Millennium, a crusade was led by the ancient Imperator Class Titan, Imperious Corporales. This mighty war machine, through a series of subsequent engagements that lasted for three solar months, brought about the destruction of Asphodel’s woe machines. The defeated Magister fled to the planet Amold 11, a once-target of the Crusade that had been rejected at the final hour by Warm SLO.

The Imperial forces, however, had other plans. Amold 11 became a target for phase two of the operation, codenamed ‘Newfound’. It was mid-year 756 of the 41st Millennium when the assault began. A fleet action, swift and brutal, was commanded by Admiral Cai. The plan was executed to perfection, the Imperial forces decimating the orbital forts above the planet and destroying enemy shipping at both high and low anchor. This paved the way for Imperial ground forces under the command of General Dylan Belfrey to execute a drop into strategic enemy strongholds.

The forces of the arch-enemy proved to be a formidable adversary, well entrenched and pushing back the Imperial Guardsmen in successive actions. Approximately 9,500 guardsmen lost their lives attempting to breach the sturdy concentric walls defending the citadels. A mortar attack saw the end of General Belfrey, and it was up to his subordinate, Colonel Bigin of the Sao regiment, to consolidate the losses.

However, Bigin’s strategy led to the main portion of the Imperial Ground Forces being trapped between a deadly crossfire. Salvation came in the form of the Iron Snakes Space Marines, who diverted and made a drop pod assault on the targeted cities to relieve the desperate Imperial Guard forces. The proud warriors of Ithaca, the Iron Snakes, put two hives to the sword, slaughtering 29,000 of the arch-enemy troopers with a loss of only 81 of their own.

In the years 757 to 758 of the 41st Millennium, the campaign moved to Saron, a world strategically central to the region known as the Holy Visage. The brutal campaign to liberate this world was commanded by Lord Militant Huml and General Bullin. A massive army of the Astra Militarum invaded in year 757, routing the gathering of Chaos troops and killing Magister Kuo in the initial assault. The tables turned when weather conditions worsened, forcing the Imperial ground forces to dig in and bogging down the assault.

Despite the harsh weather, General Bullin pressed on with his battalions towards the city of Ramay. Encircling the city, it fell after a short siege. Meanwhile, Lord Militant Huml focused his efforts on the city of Kulus, and after a six-week aerial campaign, eventually won air superiority. The city of San Nefa, however, proved to be a much tougher nut to crack.

In the years 757 to 759 of the 41st Millennium, the campaign moved to the Hive World of Forx Alf. From the onset, Forx Alf proved to be a formidable challenge, showcasing the difficulties faced by the Imperial Forces when encountering a world that had been deeply affected by Chaos.

Despite the challenges, the Imperial forces soldiered on, their determination and courage a beacon of hope in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium. The stage is set for the next chapter of this epic saga, as the forces of the Imperium continue their relentless crusade against the forces of Chaos.
