All About the Ork Clans: A Savage Guide to War – Part 7

Title: “The Roaring Cult of Speed and the Unstoppable Goofs: A Deep Dive into Warhammer 40,000’s Ork Clans”

When you picture the third war for Armageddon, you might recall the towering presence of Gul, or perhaps the unexpected strategy of Gajal. This War Boss, to the surprise of many, notably left the Cult of Speed in reserve rather than thrusting them headlong into the fray. This decision sparked shock and outrage from the speed-hungry Gak, who was silenced only by the swift and decisive strike of Gajal’s adamantite head, reducing Gak’s custom bike to a pitiful pile of scrap metal.

This tense moment served as a reminder that patience, while rarely found among the enthusiastic speed maniacs of the Cult, was sometimes necessary. Gajal’s decisive action calmed the fervor of the War Boss, and the Cult awaited their moment to strike. When breaches finally formed in the walls of The Condemned Hive, Grugach and his Cult of Speed were granted their long-awaited opportunity to joyride through the wide avenues.

The Cult of Speed, a pivotal faction among the Evil Suns, are notorious for their obsession with speed. Their ranks are filled with orks who can’t resist the exhilarating roar of a motorcycle or the billowing clouds of dust and exhaust that trail them into battle. This obsession, while often serving as an excellent smokescreen allowing them to burst into the thick of the fight, sometimes works against them. War bosses, in their cunning, have been known to use these bikers as live mine clearers, sacrificing them to detect ambushes and traps.

Among these adrenaline-fuelled bikers, there are those who manage to survive their initial battles and become grizzled veterans. The War Boss Jard Snar Dar Riper, a hero of countless battles against the Imperium, xenos, and even his own kind, is a prime example. Jard Snar, unlike other War bosses, prefers light armor, valuing speed and mobility over armor. A swift and deadly force, he circles his enemies on his halftrack bike beast, cutting down foes with his circular saw gauntlet, earning him the fierce nickname, Dar Ripper.

Now, let’s shift our attention to the Goofs, the epitome of the green skin stereotype. Considered the most dominant and powerful clan in orc society, their size and strength give them a formidable advantage in combat. Their physical prowess allows them to overpower almost any opponent, and their sheer resilience enables them to survive the most grievous wounds. The Goofs are direct, relying primarily on close combat and infantry, charging headlong into their enemies with a fearsome battle cry.

In the world of Goofs, technology is not a weapon but a means of transportation. They go into battle armed with choppers and sluggers, their footfall heavy on the ground, occasionally supported by kerans and deaf dreads. The Goofs shun camouflage, considering it cowardly. Instead, they decorate themselves with skull earrings, amulets in the form of dead heads, large nose rings, and horns carved from the bones of giant creatures. For the Goofs, these are not mere decorations but a way to emphasize their aggressive and brutal nature.

However, their belligerent nature often leads to internal conflict. In the absence of enemies, they have been known to turn on other orc clans or even each other. Their aggressive and brutal nature, reflected in their appearance and battle style, makes them a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
