Guilliman Lives: The Return of the Avenging Son – Part 5

Title: The Ultramarines’ Stellar Warpath: Galaxies of Steel, Courage, and Shadows

Greetings, fellow lore enthusiasts! Today, we continue our in-depth exploration of the Ultramarines’ battles against the relentless Tyranid hives. The fourth company, led by the indomitable Captain Idaas and Uriel Ventris, found themselves once again at the forefront of the conflict, this time on the industrial world of Ecar 4.

They stood shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of Imperial Guard regiments and fellow Space Marine chapters, a united front against the voracious Tyranid threat. Valor was displayed in abundance, Uriel and Idaas both receiving the coveted Imperial Laurel for their bravery. The Tyranid forces were repelled, but their Hive Fleet Kraken, fragmented into Splinter fleets, persisted.

These split fleets penetrated deep into the galactic core, some even daring to reach the Segmentum Solar. Their audacity was met with the Imperial fleets’ overwhelming firepower, yet doubts persist whether all the Kraken Splinter fleets have been completely obliterated.

Following the victory at Ecar 4, the fourth company was dispatched to Thraa, a world rumored to be infested with the Night Lord’s Chaos Space Marines. The Imperial Guard regiments advanced towards the planetary capital, meeting – and ultimately crushing – fierce resistance.

Recognizing the vulnerability of the Imperial lines, the fourth company targeted bridges that could facilitate flanking attacks. In a heroic act of sacrifice, Captain Idaas gave his life to destroy the final bridge. In the wake of this loss, veteran Sergeant Uriel Ventris was promoted to Captain, taking command of the company.

With Captain Ventris newly appointed, the fourth company embarked on a mission to the troubled world of Pavonis. There, they discovered a plot by a madman named Kmir Devalos, intent on releasing an ancient and powerful C’Tan star god. Despite defeating Devalos, the entity known as the Nightbringer was freed, its consequences for the Ultramarines and the galaxy yet to be revealed.

From Pavonis, the fourth company journeyed to Tarsis Ultra, a world deeply tied to the Ultramarines. A colossal space hulk drifted into the system, and Captain Ventris led his men into its haunted depths. Inside, they faced frenzied Orcs and Genestealers, emerging victorious but with a sense of dread as the approaching Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan was detected once more.

The Imperial response was swift, assembling a fleet led by Imperial Navy Admiral Breon Dort. The defense of Tarsis Ultra was entrusted to a brother chapter of Space Marines – the Mortifactors, and an elite Death Watch Space Marines kill team. Despite tensions among the Imperial commanders, the Tyranid threat was met with courage and honor.

The battle commenced in the outer reaches of the system. Although the world of Barbarus Prime fell to the Tyranids, the initial elements of their fleet were defeated. However, the Hive Fleet’s advance couldn’t be halted, and Inquisitor Kryptman had to make a devastating decision.

Join us next time as we delve into the aftermath of these battles and the Ultramarines’ unyielding stand against the Tyranid menace.
