In the inexorable chronicles of the 41st Millennium, a significant event echoes through the cosmos, etching its mark in the annals of the Imperium of Man. A momentous saga that began with the fall of Cadia, an Imperial fortress-world, and the rise of the Celestine Crusade. This is just a fragment of the tale, a pivotal chapter in the grand narrative of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
The story unfolds with the Despoiler, the infamous Warmaster of Chaos, receiving word from the Chaos Sorcerer Zarafiston about a device that could potentially shift the scales of the Long War. The prophetic sorcerer, through his warp scryings, discovered that Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl had survived Cadia’s fall, possessing a device that could turn the tide in favor of the Imperium.
As the chaos of war raged on, a band of survivors from Cadia, who called themselves the Celestine Crusade, escaped through the webway with the assistance of the Aeldari of the Inari. Their destination? Macragge, the home of the Ultramarines, one of the most formidable chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.
However, the Despoiler had other plans. To counter the threat posed by the Crusade, he dispatched a portion of his Black Fleet and ordered a Chaos invasion of Ultramar, setting the stage for the 13th Black Crusade.
The Celestine Crusade, named after Saint Celestine, the living embodiment of the Emperor’s will, was led by an eclectic group of survivors and warriors. Alongside Celestine, stood the Archmagos, Marshall Amalric of the Black Templars, and the austere Inquisitor Katarina Greyfax of the Ordo Hereticus. Accompanied by the Aeldari commanders, Yvraine, Daughter of Shades, and her war leader, the Visarch.
Their journey through the webway led them to the war-torn shrine world of Laphis. After a swift victory against the local Chaos forces, the Crusade, along with their uneasy Aeldari allies, broke the siege laid by the Heretic Astartes on the local Ultramarines fortress. Their victory secured them passage to Macragge, marking a significant step in their mission.
Upon their arrival at Macragge, they were greeted by a world under siege, a massive space battle raging between the forces of Chaos and the indomitable fleet of the Ultramarines. The stakes were high, and the iconic fortress-monastery of Hira was teetering on the brink of falling into the hands of the enemy.
Amidst the chaos of war, a revelation was brought forth. Belisarius Cawl unveiled his true age of over 10,000 standard years and his acquaintance with the Ultramarines Primarch, Roboute Guilliman, during the Horus Heresy. He explained that his task, assigned by Guilliman himself, was to find a way to restore the Primarch to life. A task that was met with apprehension and skepticism, but ultimately allowed to proceed due to the dire circumstances.
As the Black Legion launched an assault on the Temple of Correction, the Crusade, along with the Ultramarines and the Grey Knights, staged a fierce resistance. In the midst of this chaos, the Aeldari Yvraine invoked the power of her patron deity, Ynnead, the recently awakened Aeldari God of the Dead. With the God’s power and Cawl’s arcane technology, they managed to heal the Primarch’s old wounds and awaken him from his ten-millennium slumber.
Clad in the Armor of Fate, a unique suit of power armor augmented with Aeldari soul magic, Guilliman’s soul was restored, his body cleansed of the poisonous remnants from Fulgrim’s treacherous attack. The Primarch was resurrected, forever bound to his ornate armor due to its soul-sustaining technologies, but resurrected nevertheless.
The sight of an awakened and enraged Primarch was more than the Black Legion could handle. Guilliman shattered their forces, providing a significant morale boost to his Ultramarines and the rest of the Imperial defenders. The tide of the battle turned, the Black Legion was swept aside, and the Ultramarines’ Fortress Monastery was saved from the brink of annihilation.
In the aftermath of the battle, Roboute Guilliman was reinstated as the Primarch of the Ultramarines, ruler of Macragge, and Lord of Ultramar. The once autonomous worlds, which had drifted away from the realm of Ultramar, were declared under his jurisdiction once again.
Thus, in the Imperium’s hour of need, a hero was reborn, a beacon of hope was lit, and the Warhammer 40,000 saga continued to unfold in all its grimdark glory.
