Pariah Nexus: Necron Invasion and the Imperium’s Response – Part 6

Welcome back to our multi-part saga of the grimdark world of Warhammer 40,000. In today’s entry, we’ll be diving headfirst into the icy tumult of a truly epic battle. Picture this: a valley, blanketed in ice and snow, the air alive with the fervent chants of battle hymns. Leading the charge is none other than the indomitable Sisters of the Order of Our Martyred Lady. Over 2,000 strong, they advance across the frozen terrain, blazing braziers in hand. Not far behind, an additional 500 Sisters of the Order of the Bloody Rose join the fray.

Their allies, the AST Militarum, are not far behind. Despite the biting cold and the dire threat of pacification looming over them, every man and woman in their ranks feels the faith of the Sisters of Battle burn within their hearts. They know that under the guidance of these holy warriors of the Emperor, victory is within their grasp.

However, the Necron garrison commander from the Neac Dynasty, Fron Shenok, is not so easily cowed. Known for his extreme disdain for what he deems ‘lesser races’, Shenok responds to this invasion not with panic, but with outrage. How dare these ‘flesh parasites’ defile his domain? How dare they attack those he considers far superior? These questions ignite a rage within Shenok, propelling him into the fray alongside his legions of Necron warriors.

As the battle rages on, the Necron legions unleash their devastating gaus weapons, flaying the flesh from their unwelcome guests. Tomb blades dart through the swirling snow, their storm of fire toppling Battle Sisters and turning Basilisks and Wyvns into flaming wrecks. Emerging from the snow, heavier combat machines of the Necrons rain down searing blasts of cosmic energy, annihilating entire squads of Battle Sisters and Guardsmen. Amidst this chaos, Shenok leads his elite Lichard into the heart of the battle, aiming to cleave the human formation in two.

From her vantage point, Ephrael Stern, a Battle Sister of the Order of Our Martyred Lady, takes in the scene. She sees Imperial Knights fighting off defensive pylons, Imperial warriors and monstrous Necrons locked in combat. Despite the odds, Stern’s faith in the Emperor’s intervention remains unshaken. She is certain that Kenel, an ally from the Inari, will bring aid to the Imperials.

The battle takes a horrifying turn as Necron reinforcements emerge from activating gates. Just as the Imperial forces seem to be on the brink of defeat, a tremendous explosion engulfs the central Doom gate. The surviving squads of Seraphim and Zephym rush away from the wreckage, their halos of sacred power shining bright. Inspired by their example, Stern knows she must exert all available strength. Victory must belong to the Imperium.

With this thought, Stern unleashes her power. Her hair and cloak billow in the wind, her eyes blaze with white fire, and she rises into the air, her wings of lightning and flame spreading around her. This light brings fallen warriors back to life, and those who had paused now move forward with renewed vigor. Shenok watches in bewilderment as this miracle unfolds. Little does he know that it’s not warp-generated power, but holy faith that has made this possible.

The Imperial warriors’ prayers escalate, their hymns defiant as Stern’s energy creates burning holes in the Necron ranks. The second Dolman gate collapses, and the commanding Fron orders his legions to intensify the assault. But to his astonishment, the surrounded Imperial forces surge forward, annihilating his front lines. The ground quakes as the surviving Imperial Knights charge down from the heights, striking at the Necrons from both sides.

The stage is set for the final confrontation. Ephrael Stern and the newly arrived Kenil descend upon Fron Shenok. The ensuing duel is brutal, with beams of light bursting from Shenok’s staff and his Lichguard slashing and stabbing at the attackers. Yet, they cannot halt the fury of Stern or the cold hatred of Kenil.

Stay tuned for the next installment, as we continue to unveil the epic saga of Warhammer 40,000.
