Ragnar Blackmane: The Wolf Lord’s Path
In a distant corner of the galaxy, on the frigid world of Fenris, a young warrior named Ragnar found himself standing before a stranger. This stranger, known as the Wolf Priest Ranik, introduced himself to Ragnar amidst the crackle of burning fuel and the thunderous salvos of cannons from the Iron Islands. The aroma of war was a potent cocktail that stirred a sense of divine might within the young warrior.
Ranik, on the other hand, noted the courage and skill of Ragnar. However, a question hung heavily in the air: what if Ragnar’s vessel had not been attacked by the Sea Dragon? What if Ragnar hadn’t showcased his fighting prowess in front of Ranik? Was it a stroke of blind luck that brought the young warrior and the Wolf Priest together, or was it a carefully calculated move by Ragnar to catch the eye of this mysterious stranger?
The Iron Islands were an anomaly within the tumultuous landscape of Fenris. Unlike the other islands, these were stable, unaffected by subterranean strikes or the constant threat of submersion. It was on these islands that one of the chapter’s communication nodes was located, which was Ranik’s primary objective. With Ragnar’s assistance, the Space Wolf was able to connect with his brethren, and Ragnar’s mission was complete.
Life on Fenris was never easy. Few tribes managed to secure a reliable home, let alone retain their right to it. Those who did often lost their strength over time, as a peaceful life rarely bred skilled warriors. This was the fate of the Merciless Skulls, a tribe driven from their home by the Thunder Fists and destined for a similar fate years later when they sought revenge.
On a fateful night, the Thunder Fists were celebrating Ragnar’s successful return from the Iron Islands. The festivities were in full swing, and there wasn’t a sober warrior in sight. This was the perfect opportunity for the Merciless Skulls to launch a surprise attack. Ragnar, however, was awake and managed to avoid the initial onslaught.
By the time the Thunder Fists could gather an organized force, it was too late. The Merciless Skulls had orchestrated a massacre, leaving few survivors. The remaining tribesmen could only put up a desperate last stand.
Amidst this chaos, a steel behemoth descended from the sky, bringing with it the Choosers of the Slain. These colossal warriors, believed to be the selectors of the most valiant warriors to stand beside Russ himself after death, watched the battle without intervening. Their presence only fueled the ferocity of the battle, with warriors from both sides charging forward, cries of defiance echoing through the night.
Young Ragnar, filled with relentless fury, tore through the ranks of the Merciless Skulls. On the other side, Strion, a formidable warrior from the Merciless Skulls, sought a worthy adversary. It was inevitable that these two warriors would clash. Their battle was brutal, a dance of death ending with both warriors falling to each other’s axes.
Being chosen for the Space Wolves is not merely about standing out from the rest. The trials and training are grueling, and few can withstand them. Ragnar was taken to Asaheim, the only piece of land on Fenris that could be a sanctuary for the chosen. Here, the next chapter of his journey would begin, shaping him into the legendary Wolf Lord he was destined to become.
