Title: The Epoch of Malcador and the Age of Imperium – A Saga Unfolded
In the annals of the Imperium, the figure of Malcador the Sigillite stands tall. As the trusted confidant of the Emperor himself, Malcador played a crucial role in the momentous events of the Epoch. When the Imperium was in its infancy, the Emperor entrusted the bureaucratic needs of the empire to Malcador, marking the beginning of a partnership that would shape the destiny of mankind.
Among the many tasks that awaited Malcador, one of the most challenging was the guidance of the Space Wolves Legion’s Primarch, Leman Russ. Hailing from the pre-industrial world of Fenris, Russ was the second Primarch to be discovered. The culture shock was immense, but under Malcador’s mentorship, he began to adapt to the technologically advanced Imperium.
Malacador and Russ’s relationship was more than just that of a mentor and pupil. They nurtured a bond of camaraderie, a bond that held sway over many within the Imperium. Malcador’s visions and wisdom guided many of the galaxy’s greatest heroes, and his words bore the weight of law. He held the annals of humanity in high esteem, possessing vast knowledge of human history, for he had lived through much of it.
During the Great Crusade, Malcador served as the Emperor’s foremost emissary, often acting as the Vanguard of His will. The Emperor himself would only reveal his presence if Malcador was unable to resolve affairs to satisfaction. One such instance occurred during the subjugation of the Word Bearers Legion.
The Word Bearers, under their Primarch Lorgar, had failed to disseminate the Imperial truth across the worlds they conquered. Instead, they instructed the conquered peoples to worship the Emperor as a deity. Amidst this confrontation, an enraged Lorgar struck Malcador. Despite his average stature, Malcador managed to rise, exhibiting a physical resilience far surpassing ordinary mortals. This incident set Lorgar on the path of damnation, making him a harbinger for the ruinous powers.
Malacador’s influence extended beyond individual Primarchs. He promulgated the Chaplain edict at the Council of Nikaea during the Great Crusade, birthing a new breed of Space Marines, the Chaplains. They were tasked with maintaining order and discipline amongst their brethren in the Astartes Legions, overseeing deviations from the Imperial truth and the use of psychic abilities.
As the 31st Millennium dawned, the Great Crusade reached its conclusion with the Anor Crusade against the massive Empire of the Orks. The Emperor orchestrated a grand victory celebration to honor the valor of all the Empire’s warriors. It was during this festivity that the Emperor declared his favored son Horus would become the Warmaster and the new Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces for the Great Crusade.
With this proclamation, the Emperor declared his intention to return to Terra to undertake a secret project for the betterment of mankind. The Master of Mankind returned to Terra, leaving the Imperium in the capable hands of Horus and under the watchful eye of Malcador, marking a new era in the vast saga of the Imperium.
