Title: The Might of the Baneblades: A Look into the Formation of Super Heavy Tank Companies in the 41st Millennium

The thrilling world of Warhammer 40,000 is filled with a rich tapestry of lore and traditions that stretch across the cosmos, touching every faction and race in the universe. Among the myriad of unique customs and practices, the formation of military units and their deployment in combat situations is a topic that never ceases to fascinate. Today, we will delve into the intriguing world of the Imperium’s most formidable armored behemoths – the Super Heavy Tank Companies.

In the vast military labyrinth of the Imperium, the Baneblade super heavy tanks often occupy a special place. These colossal war machines are occasionally formed into standalone tank companies, serving as a reserve force for the front command. The might of these tanks is unleashed when the situation calls for it, especially in threatened or strategically vital sectors.

Two such notable units are the seventh and eighth Paragoni Super Heavy Companies. These tank companies could consist of anywhere between four to twelve super heavy tanks, supplemented by up to six support vehicles. A stellar example of this was the 12th Talon Armored Regiment, which made its mark during the Taros Campaign. This particular regiment took to the field with eleven superheavy tanks, including nine Baneblades and two Shadowswords.

The number of tanks per company can also vary significantly. For instance, the Armageddon, Talon, Cadian and C regiments typically fielded six tanks per company. However, the armies of lesser-known planets often had to make do with more modest units. A case in point is the Armageddon 8th Super Heavy Tank Company, which boasted a formidable nine super heavy tanks.

Sometimes, the Imperium’s military high command experimented with mixed composition units. These were unique formations where the lead vehicle would be a Baneblade or a tank of equivalent class, while the rest of the regiment’s machines would be the versatile Leman Russ tanks. The Tyrant’s Legion offers a fascinating example of this type of unit.

Participating in the infamous Badab War, the Legion’s units were a blend of colossal firepower and tactical flexibility. Each company consisted of one Baneblade and four Leman Russ tanks of the Vanquisher model. The command tank, aptly named Blackclaw Pride, led this force into the heat of battle during the Second Battle for Sean.

Stay tuned for the next part of this multi-part series, where we will continue our exploration of the diverse and thrilling world of Warhammer 40,000’s armored might.
