Imperium Secundus: How The Lion Betrayed His Brothers – Part 3

Greetings, loyal servants of the Emperor! Welcome back to our multi-part series where we delve into the blood-soaked annals of Warhammer 40,000 lore. Today, we’re recounting the dramatic scenes unfurling on the planet of Saur, where the forces of darkness have descended in a fiery storm, landing in terrifying capsules and spilling out warriors shrouded in dark blue armor.

Hidden on the planet’s surface, the brave soldiers of the San auxilia were the first to notice this impending catastrophe. Yet, few could comprehend the horrors they were about to experience in the coming days. Snuffing out their fires, these courageous souls set out towards the city of Copis. Despite their haste, they arrived too late. As their hometown burned, they could only watch in horror and sorrow.

Refusing to surrender to feeling helpless, the auxilia fighters took on the noble task of gathering all the fleeing survivors. They led them to the safety of the mountain caves. Yet, they couldn’t ignore the need to understand the situation in the city. A small squad, led by the valiant Sergeant Merck Herald, ventured back into the city through the tunnels, reaching the Central Square. The sight that greeted them was something out of a nightmare. The city’s square had been transformed into a torture chamber by the Night Lords, satisfying their thirst for violence in the most gruesome of ways.

Yet the spirit of the auxilia did not break. On their way back, they managed to rescue a captive sergeant of the Ultramarines from two legionnaires of the enemy, managing to kill both opponents. This small victory, however fleeting, provided a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.

Enter Warsmith Barabus Dantioch, who swiftly reported the unfolding events to Primarch Rabut Gillman. Enraged by the news, Gillman was ready to use the planet’s Beacon to transport to Saur instantly. Dantioch, however, held him back, arguing that the risk was too great. Instead, he proposed a plan to barricade all entrances to the caves and hold out till loyalist forces arrived.

Gillman, agreeing with Dantioch’s reasoning, prepared his Legion’s forces for deployment. Seeking to coordinate his actions with Emperor Regent Sanguinius, a fiery conversation took place between the two brothers. Accusations were flung, apologies were made, and plans were discussed. Gillman decided to personally travel with his fleet to the besieged world while his fleet was moving towards the planet.

Meanwhile, The Defenders of the Beacon, Captain Lucretius Corvo with his detachment from the 19th company of the Novas, and half a company of Dark Angels, would attempt to buy time. All corresponding orders were swiftly issued, and the plan to defend the hive world from the attack began to be implemented. The main participants were Barabus Dantioch and Alexis Polu, tasked with fortifying the Beacon’s labyrinths and protecting its key elements.

Stay tuned, faithful followers, as we continue to unravel the dramatic events unfolding on the planet Saur. May the Emperor guide us through these dark times.
