Why Did Necrons Turn Their Worlds into Tombs? – Part 13

In the grim darkness of the far future, there exist countless mysteries and threats. And none more deadly than the Necrons, an ancient mechanical civilization reawakening from their tomb worlds to once again claim the galaxy in the name of their Star Gods. This narrative is part of a multi-part series where we dive into the lore of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and today we will be focusing on the cataclysmic encounter of the Necrons and the brutish Orks on the tomb world of Fordis.

The Mechanicus, with their insatiable curiosity for the unknown, once stumbled upon an enormous metallic structure that was adorned with green glowing symbols and intricate golden schematics. The tomb, in its slumbering silence, held the key to awaken the dreaded Necrons, and thus, the metallic death rose to lock horns with the locals and the Tau Empire who harboured interest in the planet.

This wasn’t a skirmish limited to a few factions; the Necrons, with their cold, unyielding logic and advanced weaponry, posed a threat to everyone, including the relentless Orks. The tomb world of Fordis, considered by the Imperium as an uninhabited Ghost World, was revealed to be a dormant haven for a vast number of Necrons, who began to stir from their sleep in the 41st Millennium.

Warboss Skullcrack of the Orks, enticed by rumors of a powerful weapon hidden on the planet, led his Waaagh! there, only to find nothing but sand and legions of Necron warriors rising from the bloody red saline seas. The Necrons, dripping with water and silent determination, advanced onto the unsuspecting Orks, who, after the initial shock, swung their choppas in a desperate bid to repel the iron aliens.

This battle was a testament to the terrifying regenerative capabilities of the Necrons. Severed limbs dragged themselves through the sand back to their bodies, groping for heads and other missing appendages, while the Ork warriors looked on in horror. Skullcrack, not one to be deterred, came up with a savage solution – dismantle the Necrons into smaller parts to delay their regeneration.

As the tide began to rise, the scattered Necron components were swept away by the water, further hindering their regeneration process. Emboldened by this unexpected victory, Skullcrack led his boys along the beach, finishing off the retreating Necrons. But then, a colossal monolith emerged, emitting a beam that reduced the Warboss to a smoldering pile of ash. This epic battle, it turned out, was merely a test by the Necron nobles, who were checking their weaponry.

The saga of Skullcrack ended with a grim lesson: encroaching upon the Necron tomb worlds is a fool’s errand. The galaxy is still dotted with numerous Necron tomb worlds, each possessing unique traits and only a fraction of them have awakened. Should they all awaken simultaneously, it would spell doom for all the intelligent races of the galaxy.

As per the analysts of the Imperium, no world can truly rest in peace, for the likelihood of Necrons lying dormant beneath is immensely high. The 41st Millennium is a time of danger and uncertainty, where ancient enemies rise from the sands and seas to threaten the very existence of life. So, stay vigilant, for the Necrons are stirring, and they are as relentless as death itself.
