War of the Beast – When the Imperium Could Have Ended – Part 6

Title: “The Fall and Rise: The Battle Against The Beast – A Warhammer 40,000 Saga”

In the heart of a raging conflict, the Primark and the monstrous Ork Titan clashed in a titanic showdown, an explosive encounter that would forever shift the tides of war. The temple generator, pushed beyond its limits, erupted in a stellar outburst, engulfing both titans in its fiery cataclysm. Bereft of their leader, the Ork horde’s spirit withered, their once indomitable resistance shattered.

Triumphant yet battered, the Imperial Armada limped back to Terra. But victory was short-lived, a devilish cry echoed through the vastness of space, haunting every vox receiver with a chilling proclamation, “I am Slaughter…” This unnerving declaration reverberated for weeks, a grim reminder that the Beast’s war was far from over. The war had taken on a terrifying new life, demanding the Imperials revisit the nightmare of Aleno.

The path forward was treacherous. The loss had been heavy, and the psychic field sowed by the Greenskins proved to be a formidable weapon. It was a time for subtlety, for cunning, and it was Kand who stepped up to the plate.

Defying the High Lords of Terra, Kand secured the right to form a new breed of warriors. It was only when Terra’s orbiting moon, a dormant husk of an Ork attack, sprang to life, spewing forth Greenskins, that Kand’s vision bore fruit. Clad in black power armor, warriors from various chapters took on the mantle of the ‘Death Watch’ in honor of their fallen brethren.

Their first mission, however, was a pyrrhic victory. The Mechanicus’ teleportation beacons malfunctioned, causing half of the moon to vanish while the other half crashed into Terra. This cataclysmic event sparked a global catastrophe, raining hellfire on the people below and damaging the Imperial Palace. Despite the calamity, the indomitable spirit of humanity persevered, clinging to the thin shred of hope.

The Imperials were fortunate to discover the last stronghold of the Silent Sisterhood. Pariah warriors, their mere presence could disrupt the Ork’s psychic warfare. With their help, the Imperials formulated a daring plan – to capture an Ork psyker and unleash a wave of Pariah Aura devastating to the Ork’s psychic forces.

They set off for Aleno, intending to test their psychic resonance weapon against the Greenskin horde. The assault team penetrated Gorag Grot’s shield and landed near the temple – the final confrontation was near.

But the Beast had its plans. The Ork’s shield closed, trapping the Imperials. Orks surged from all directions, but the Imperials stood their ground, making every inch a bloody battleground. The clash with the Beast’s bodyguards was nothing short of epic, each larger than a Warhound-class Titan. The Beast, a monstrosity armed to the teeth, emerged to meet the Imperials.

The Pariah ritual, however, worked. The anti-psychic wave neutralized the Orks, and the Beast hesitated. Seizing the moment, the Imperials attacked the Beast, killing it. But their joy was short-lived – a new Beast took its place. The temple wasn’t home to one Beast, but six.

The surviving monster, who had clashed blades with Primar Vulcan, killed Kand and crushed the mighty Space Marine. With the loss of their leader, the Imperial Fists vanished. The Imperials retreated, carrying Kand’s body. It was another defeat, but it meant little. This was about the survival of the human race, and they would fight to the last.
