Few more words about Daemon Engines – Part 11

In the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where there is only war, the forces of Chaos unleash their most horrifying and vile war machines on the battlefield. Take, for instance, the abominable Plague Towers. These monstrosities rumble forward, powered by the tormented souls of disease victims bound within their depths. Their terror and anguish fuel these lumbering monstrosities as they crush the fallen under their titanic wheels.

The Plague Towers are often commanded by a Great Unclean One, a daemon of Nurgle, whose maggot-ridden form barely fits within the confines of the tower. Amidst the roars of the Chaos army descending upon the enemy ranks, these Towers, surrounded by Beastmen and Chaos Space Marines, are a sight that would strike fear into the bravest of hearts.

Inside the Plague Towers are hundreds of Chaos worshippers, whipped into a frenzy, who moan in perverse pleasure at the impending slaughter. When the heavy drawbridges finally lower, hordes of screaming fanatical warriors spill out, enveloping their enemies in a wave of decay and death.

However, during the siege of VX, an even more terrifying weapon was unleashed by the forces of Chaos – the Blight Drones. These monstrosities, a nightmarish blend of insects, flying machines and demonic entities, quickly became the terror of the poison skies above VX.

The incessant whirring of the Blight Drones’ propellers, emerging from the fog of war, soon became a symbol of impending doom for the Imperial Guard troops. Tales of the maimed and rotting survivors of the Blight Drones’ assaults spread like wildfire, severely impacting the morale of the troops, to the point that merely relaying such stories was considered a threat to the military structure.

Despite their ghastly reputation, the Blight Drones’ effectiveness on the battlefield was undeniable. Armed with rapid-firing light weapons and womb-like weapons capable of spewing streams of corrosive toxic bile, they proved their lethality against both entrenched infantry and light vehicles. The Blight Drones also displayed an uncanny resilience, attributed to both their living flesh and rusty armor, as well as some dark guiding force.

These demon engines were often found in clusters, attracted to the scenes of bloodshed and death like meat flies. Wherever they were encountered, the air filled with poisonous vapors and the ground rotted beneath them, and they constantly oozed pus from their fleshy bodies, only adding to the horror they inspire.

Despite their gruesome presence on the battlefield, the origins of the Blight Drones remain shrouded in mystery. Their first confirmed encounter with the Imperium was during the siege of VX, but they have since been sighted in numerous battles, fighting alongside heretical warbands and taking part in demonic incursions.

The Blight Drones of Nurgle, like demonic meat flies, remain one of the most terrifying weapons in the Chaos arsenal, a testament to the malevolent creativity of the forces that seek to plunge the galaxy into darkness.
