Few more words about Daemon Engines – Part 15

Title: “The Entar: Warhammer 40k’s Monstrous Demon Engine of Cal”

Welcome back, faithful readers, to our continuing series delving into the obscenely rich lore of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we are focusing our attention on an absolute behemoth among war machines, a creature of destruction so vast and powerful that it literally stands head and shoulders above any other war engine birthed from the turbulent planet of Cal. Brace yourself for the awe-inspiring terror that is the Entar.

The Entar, with its shimmering leaden vessel that merges with and transmutes essence, is a sight to behold. Its surface is a perfect reflector, repelling light as if it were an undesired enemy. But don’t let that lead you astray; this metal cage houses a monstrous demon fiend, exerting its influence on the outside world via psychic powers and formidable metal claws.

The origins of the Entar are as dramatic as its form. Born from a catastrophic mishap within the forges of Tanor during the last ruinous wars between the cities, this gargantuan creation is the result of a grand sacrifice. Its designer and binder, Asul, gave up his entire life’s work, his apprentices, and his entire slave pool to bind this monstrosity to his construct. With his final breath, Asul had called upon the demon and, realizing its vast power, made the ultimate sacrifice to control it.

This act resulted in the single largest war creation to emerge from Cal, a towering testament to Asul’s ambition and power. However, its creation heralded a new era of peace between the three cities of Cal, the pact of which forbids any replication of this immense machine.

The Entar, only slightly smaller than the terrifying Oror, is a four-legged golden creature of destruction constructed mainly from insor materials. It’s a bizarre fusion of the mechanical and the demonic, with the main body being entirely mechanical, while the centaur-like upper torso is mostly demonic.

Its arms, though relatively close-range for its colossal size, are no less devastating to their targets. The right arm, a mechanical marvel covered in hardened brass spines, ends in a huge runched blade capable of slicing vehicles in half. The left arm, on the other hand, is a grotesque extension of flesh that vomits forth great gouts of warp flame, altering or destroying all in its path.

Instead of a head, the Entar sports a single red cyclopean eye embedded in its chest, further enhancing its otherworldly appearance. A platform jutting out from its mid-abdomen is ringed with spikes, suggesting a fanged underbite.

The Entar stands as a testament to the dark forces of Chaos, a monstrous creation that surpasses its creators in bloodthirstiness and is exceedingly difficult to destroy. But, its power is unstable, a ticking time bomb that’s not only a danger to its enemies but also to its masters.

So, as the apprentices of the late master artificer Ul struggle to maintain control of the demon, the universe waits with bated breath for what will happen should the demon gain control. The fate of Cal hangs in the balance, and the Entar continues to tower ominously over it all, a symbol of power, sacrifice, and the terrifying potential of Chaos.

Until our next deep dive into the Warhammer 40,000 lore, may the Emperor protect you.
