Eidolon – Progenitor of the Noise Marines – Part 4

The tale of Lord Commander Eidolon is one of hubris, resurrection, and mad laughter in the face of death. The saga of this larger-than-life character in the Warhammer 40,000 universe is a thrilling roller coaster ride through a dystopian future of war, treachery, and insatiable ambition.

Eidolon’s story begins in a startling encounter with Lucius, a member of Fulgrim’s Legion. Lucius, shocked, initially mishears his Primarch. He believes Fulgrim has simply named another in tribute to their late Lord Commander. Yet, the figure before them is none other than Eidolon himself, a phantom back from the dead. The sight of the reanimated Eidolon, his twisted features and extended jaw, sends a shockwave of astonishment throughout the Heliopolis.

In a dramatic display of resurrection and transformation, Eidolon discards his robes to reveal his armoured form, a vision of neon colours that claw at the eyes. His armor is adorned with coiled wire and scraps of Hessian, his mighty hammer strapped across his chest. A raw suture encircles his neck and his skin is pale and lifeless, his eyes black and glassy. Eidolon moves towards Lucius, his grotesque grin spreading over his already distended mouth.

The sight of Eidolon, reborn and walking amongst the living, is both repulsive and captivating. He taunts Lucius, laughs at his disbelief, and openly challenges him. Lucius, in turn, draws his swords, ready to strike. Yet, the Primarch Fulgrim intervenes, silencing his sons and making it clear that Eidolon’s continued existence is by his design.

Eidolon’s journey takes on an even darker tone as he becomes instrumental in Fulgrim’s transformation into a Demon Prince of Slaanesh. Assuming command of the Third Legion of The Emperor’s Children, Eidolon initiates a relentless hunt for the White Scars Legion. His path is stained with blood, including the brutal killing of Kesik Commander Chin Sha, and a near-annihilation of the White Scars, thwarted only by the heroic sacrifice of Tagai Yesugay.

Despite Eidolon’s horrific deeds, his story takes an unexpected turn as he is ordered by Mortarion to track down the Death Guard’s First Captain, Kalis Typhon. This quest leads to a fatal encounter with Lord Commander Aoran. Aoran, emerging from the smoking ruins of his army, confronts Eidolon amidst the Blazing Plaza. Surrounded by his bodyguards, the Cacapon, Eidolon faces Aoran’s wrath. Despite the toxic onslaught, Eidolon and his Cacapon rise, laughing maniacally in the face of their torment. The scene ends with Aoran’s downfall, choked by the very disgust he had for Eidolon.

In the world of Warhammer 40,000, characters like Eidolon become legends, their stories etched into the annals of this dystopian future. Eidolon’s tale is one of resurrection, transformation, and the terrifying delight of madness, an echo of the chaotic landscape of Warhammer 40,000 itself. Stay tuned as we delve deeper into the lore, exploring more stories from this multi-faceted universe.
