Title: The Enigmatic Xenos: Anulan, Simulacra, and Uath
In the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, humanity is besieged by countless threats. Among these lurk the xenos, alien races shrouded in mystery and malice. Today, we dive into the cryptic cultures of three such species: the Anulan, Simulacra, and Uath.
The Anulan, an enigmatic race, scorn the common currencies of gold and money. Instead, they covet what we perceive as worthless trinkets: petrified bones, cosmic debris, fragments of stone, and dead plants. This peculiar fascination has spawned an underground economy, where the criminal underworld artfully curates and trades these ‘offerings’ for outrageous prices. Guarding their gathered trinkets as a Free Trader would his patent, the Anulan’s use for these things remains an enigma.
In warfare, the Anulan favor ambush tactics, numerical superiority, and ranged engagement. Their arsenal includes rifles and pistols that fire shards of crystals, throwing knives, and monomolecular wires used as lassos or strangulation devices. Despite lacking the physical might of the Orks or the technological and psychic prowess of the Eldar, their fanatical hatred and willingness to serve chaos unnerves even the seasoned Inquisitors of the Ordo Xenos.
Enter the Simulacra, the ‘Eerie Xenos’. These humanoid beings, with their almost featureless faces and translucent skin, are intelligent and surpass humans in agility and flexibility. For years, even the Inquisition deemed their existence a mere legend, until M41. An autopsy of a deceased Simulacra revealed their frightening ability to alter their appearance, mimicking humans by consuming their brains. This macabre process allows them to copy appearances, voices, memories, and skills. As the brain is digested over a four-week period, their mimicry skills deteriorate, but they consistently manage to blend in, undetected by the average observer.
The Simulacra remain a profound mystery, with no information on their origin or the existence of their state. The Imperium has only encountered individual entities or small communities infiltrating hives and slowly climbing social ladders by consuming the brains of influential individuals. The Ordo Xenos seeks the Simulacra homeworld, but to no avail. Their ability to blend in, coupled with the necessity to kill for maintaining their disguise, makes them a chilling adversary.
Lastly, we venture into the ancient history of the Uath, a presumably extinct xenos race. The Uath once boasted an interstellar empire in the Segmentum Obscurus, at the fringe of the Halo Stars. For millions of years, they established colonies and enslaved species. The remnants of their civilization are scattered across various planets, from habitable cities to piles of debris covered in strange geometric figures and magical formulas.
The war between the Imperium and the Uath remains a riddle. Despite their vast empire, it wasn’t just the Uath that fought against the God-Emperor’s warriors but also their blasphemous science-produced war constructs and enslaved races. There are whispers of surviving Uath lurking beyond the known boundaries of the Imperium space, plotting revenge.
To this day, the main testament to the Uath’s existence remains their ruins and the contradictory autopsy reports. The Uath complexes, some still functioning, are believed to be ancient mines, battle stations, or research centers, harnessing solar, geothermal, and unknown energy sources.
