The Chronicles of the Primarch Lorgar: An Odyssey into the Realm of Chaos
In the latest installment of our multi-part series on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, we delve into the intricate narrative of Lorgar, Primarch of the Word Bearers. This tale is a complex interplay of future events, cosmic destinies, divine trials, and timeless brotherhoods. So buckle up, dear reader, as we journey into the labyrinthine narrative of Lorgar’s saga.
In a conversation with a yet-to-be-born entity, Lorgar, surrounded by the spectres of his brothers’ names – Sanguinius, Horus, Gilliman, Dorn, and Magnus – was questioned about his choice of allegiance. The prime focus of their discussion was Magnus, whom the entity believed to be the most potent of all the Primarchs. However, Lorgar defended Magnus, highlighting that the Crimson King had unconsciously been a servant to the Chaos Gods for an extended period.
To validate his statement, the entity whisks Lorgar five decades into the future. The devastation of Tizca, the once shining city, is laid bare before Lorgar. The entity explains that the burning of Prospero, Magnus’s home world, would be the catalyst driving Magnus to betray the Emperor and retreat into the Eye of Terror.
Lorgar, who had a deep affection for his brother and his city of light, vowed to prevent such a catastrophe and warn Magnus. However, the entity found this amusing, revealing that Lorgar would not only fail to prevent it, but he would also be the one to ignite the spark that would lead to the destruction of Prospero.
The entity described multiple potential futures where Lorgar would meet various fates. Assassination before the Emperor’s arrival, poisoning, death at the hands of his fellow Primarchs, or execution for disobedience were all possibilities. The entity also warned that Lorgar’s intervention in the dispute between Magnus and Leman Russ would likely lead to his death.
Despite these forewarnings, the entity admired Lorgar’s readiness to fight for truth, which set him apart from his brothers. It proclaimed Lorgar as the Divine Chosen, the most sincere and pious among the Primarchs. However, the Four Ruinous Powers were not ready to accept Lorgar without trials.
First among these was the legendary champion of Khorne, Angrath the Unbound. A fierce battle ensued, with Lorgar sustaining severe injuries but ultimately emerging victorious. Displaying his innate preacher spirit, Lorgar lectured the defeated demon on the folly of fighting with rage without purpose.
Next came the Emissary of Tzeentch, Kairos Fateweaver, who presented Lorgar with a different kind of trial – a test of destiny. Lorgar was given the prophecy of his fate: he would be able to kill his most hated brother, Roboute Guilliman, but in doing so, he would lose the war. Triumph over the Ultramarines’ father would earn him respect, but it would also ignite a rebellion, bringing too many defenders to the Emperor’s aid.
The labyrinth of Lorgar’s future unfurls in convoluted threads of prophecy, choice, and consequence. The saga of the Primarch Lorgar continues, a tale of cosmic battles and divine trials set amidst the infinite vastness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
