Inquisition – The Emperor’s Left Hand – Part 3

Title: The Inquisition Unveiled: A Look Into the Shadowy Watchdogs of the Imperium

Welcome back, readers, to our multi-part series delving into the captivating lore of Warhammer 40,000! In this installment, we’ll be focusing on the enigmatic and powerful Inquisition, a secretive organization that ceaselessly protects the Imperium of Man from hidden threats.

Like a shadowy vigilante, the Inquisition operates behind the scenes, wielding enough authority to disband entire Adeptus Terra organizations, leaving no trace of their actions. The Inquisition’s fingerprints are so subtly impressed that even the most dedicated historians struggle to find evidence of their activities. But make no mistake, their eyes are everywhere, and those that dig too deep often find themselves either disappearing without a trace or, intriguingly, recruited to work for the Inquisition themselves.

The Inquisition has no formal hierarchy or appointed leaders; instead, every agent serves the throne in their own unique way. Inquisitors enjoy a great deal of autonomy, and they are free to engage in investigations beyond the scope of their own Ordo. This flexibility is crucial as the nature of threats faced by humanity is often complex and interconnected, with the lines between different types of dangers frequently blurred or non-existent.

Inquisitors often unite in unofficial groups called Conclaves, formed at the request of a highly honored Inquisitor who wishes to gather colleagues with different skills, knowledge, and resources to repel a threat that cannot be dealt with alone. For example, threats such as a large-scale WAAAGH! invasion by the Orks or a colossal surge of heresy. More often than not, Conclaves are made up of agents from a single Ordo, but circumstances have forced one branch of the Inquisition to turn to others for help.

Inquisitors seldom directly command combat operations, preferring instead to delegate this responsibility to the commanders of the forces they have requisitioned. Nonetheless, the Inquisitorial Conclave often appoints a representative to supervise the campaign, ensuring that…
