Inquisition – The Emperor’s Left Hand – Part 14

In the dark and cataclysmic universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Inquisitors stand as the unyielding guardians of the Imperium. Each and every one of them is a unique character, marked by their own distinct paths, trials, and tribulations. In this entry of our series, we delve deeper into the lives and deeds of these imposing figures.

First in line, we have Fodor Karamazov, an Inquisitor whose dedication is as unflinching as his distrust of humanity. He is no mere armchair general; Karamazov fights at the forefront of crusading armies or passes ruthless judgment on apostates. Unmoved by guile or duplicity, he directs his subordinates from the Throne of Justice, an ancient mobile chapel gifted to him after the Abra purges in the 41st Millennium. His judgement is severe – there are no minor violations in his court, even the mere implication of guilt is a transgression worthy of punishment.

Another fascinating figure is Tier, an Inquisitor who has made it his life’s mission to exterminate Renegades. His suspicion of all psychers, even those sanctioned by the Inquisition, fuels his relentless pursuit of witches, mutants and sorcerers across the Galaxy. Tier’s relentless zeal extends to his own colleagues if he deems them heretical, making him one of the throne’s most active agents.

Then there’s the curious case of Inquisitor Kos, whose fate took a sharp turn after a demon’s claw lodged itself in his heart on the planet Laan 15. This event awakened in him a connection to the warp, leading him down a path of increasingly radical methods. Despite his noble goal of closing the Eye of Terror, Kos’s radicalism ultimately led to his downfall in a duel with another Inquisitor, Gregor Eisenhorn.

Speaking of Eisenhorn, this once zealous agent of the throne has evolved into a pragmatic man, having bound himself in a pact with a demonic entity and established contacts within the underworld. Despite his questionable alliances, Eisenhorn is highly respected amongst his peers for his experience and authority. However, Puritan factions view him with growing suspicion, deeming him a potential threat to the Imperium.

Finally, we come to the radical Inquisitor Lonstein, a figure deemed an absolute madman by his colleagues. His obsession with the mysterious Librarium Hereticus led to the misguided release of the demon prince Fara. Declared Excommunicus Triturus, Lonstein is now pursued across the Galaxy by the notorious witch hunter, Tier.

As we continue this multi-part series, we further explore the depth and diversity of these characters, their motivations, and the impact they have on the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Stay tuned for more tales from the grim darkness of the far future, where there is only war.
