The Saga of the Daemon Princes – Part 5

Lord Asus: The Rise of a Demon Prince

Welcome back, fellow lore enthusiasts! Today, we delve into the grim tale of Lord Asus, a man who rose from mortal beginnings in the shadows of Nanoom 5 to become a Demon Prince in the service of Chaos. His story is one of relentless brutality, cunning, and devotion to the dark gods of the Warp.

Origins on Nanoom 5

Nanoom 5, the homeworld of the infamous Night Lords, was a world of savagery and despair. Amidst this brutal environment, young Asus had little choice but to join the Night Lords Legion, a force feared for their terror tactics and psychological warfare.

Under the tutelage of Primarch Conrad Kurze, known as the Night Haunter, Asus became a relentless warrior, mastering the Legion’s terrifying methods. The Night Lords, far from the noble ideals of other Legions like the Ultramarines or Imperial Fists, embraced warfare as an act of sheer terror. Asus exemplified this philosophy, leaving devastation in his wake.

The Night Lords in the Great Crusade

While many Legions earned their fame through heroic deeds during the Great Crusade, the Night Lords took a different path. Their campaigns focused on brutal efficiency, employing terror and psychological assaults to weaken their enemies before delivering swift, merciless death.

Asus stood out among his brethren, a sinister figure who fully embraced the Legion’s ethos. His actions during the Crusade were as infamous as they were horrifying, earning him both fear and infamy across the galaxy.

The Descent into Chaos

The atrocities of the Night Lords eventually caught the attention of the Imperium, leading to their condemnation. Their fall into Chaos began during the Horus Heresy, a galaxy-wide civil war that divided the Legions. Asus, ever loyal to the Night Haunter, committed countless acts of genocide in the service of Horus.

When news of the Warmaster’s death reached Asus, he turned to the Chaos Gods, calling upon their power. They answered his plea, granting him unholy strength. By the time Conrad Kurze met his end at the hands of an Imperial assassin, Asus was already leading a formidable contingent of Night Lords, his power enhanced by the Warp.

A Legacy of Terror

In the millennium following the Horus Heresy, Asus became a scourge upon the Imperium. His raids destroyed over 30 Imperial worlds, leaving death and despair in his wake. Each conquest fed his insatiable hunger for power and further strengthened his connection to Chaos.

The turning point came in 832.M33, when Asus committed an atrocity of unimaginable scale. Descending upon the Hospitala Order’s monastery on Castillia 5, he massacred over two million innocents. This act of unparalleled cruelty earned him the Chaos Gods’ ultimate reward: transformation into a Demon Prince.

Emerging from the ruins of the monastery, Asus’s triumphant roar marked his ascent. He had become a being of unimaginable power and malice, a true embodiment of Chaos.

An Enduring Threat

To this day, Demon Prince Asus remains a grave threat to the Imperium. The Inquisition has made numerous attempts to destroy him, but each effort has ended in failure, with the death of another experienced Inquisitor. Asus revels in these victories, offering their souls to the Chaos Gods as sacrifices.

What Lies Ahead

The saga of Lord Asus is a chilling reminder of the darkness that lurks within the Warp and the relentless threats facing the Imperium.
