Lion El Jonson Warhammer 40K – Part 4 (Part 4 of 7)

The Lion’s Quest for Justice

In the aftermath of the Ruinstorm, the Dark Angels found themselves stranded, unable to return to Terra as planned. The Lion, ever determined, set his sights on the Pharos, a beacon of hope in the darkness. He led his Legion to Ultramar, where they joined forces with the Ultramarines and Blood Angels, uniting under the banner of Imperium Secundus.

A New Empire Rises

As Lord Protector of this fledgling empire, the Lion worked tirelessly alongside Roboute Guilliman and Sanguinius to forge a new path forward. However, the renegade Primarch, Curze, had other plans. His escape from the Invincible Reason sparked a chain reaction of chaos, drawing the Lion and Guilliman into a desperate bid to stop him.

A Trail of Destruction

Curze’s rampage across Macragge left destruction in its wake, and the Lion felt the weight of responsibility for his dark brother’s actions. He became obsessed with hunting down Curze, convinced that he was hiding in the rebellious Illyrium region. The Lion’s methods were met with resistance from Sanguinius and Guilliman, who opposed his plan to use orbital strikes to flush out the rebels.

A Fateful Confrontation

The Lion’s determination eventually led him to corner Curze on Alma Mons. The two Primarchs clashed in a brutal battle, with the Lion emerging victorious. But instead of delivering the killing blow, he hesitated, seeking answers from his wayward brother. Curze’s response – “Why not?” – only deepened the Lion’s unease.

Trial and Tribulation

Curze’s trial before Sanguinius and Guilliman exposed the depths of his depravity, but also revealed the cracks in the Triumvirate. The Lion’s anger boiled over, threatening to destroy the fragile alliance. Sanguinius intervened, calming the storm, but the damage was done. The Lion was banished from Imperium Secundus, forced to withdraw his Legion from the planet.

Exile and Revelation

In the aftermath of his exile, the Lion brooded, questioning his past decisions. But a sudden realization drove him to act. He teleported to Sanguinius’s chamber, intent on stopping the execution of Curze. The Night Haunter’s prophetic visions, though cryptic, held the key to the Emperor’s fate. The Lion’s plea stayed Sanguinius’s hand, and he vowed to become Curze’s gaoler, bound to unravel the mysteries of his dark brother’s mind.

A Watchful Guardian

And so, the Lion stood vigil, a guardian of secrets and a seeker of truth. His visits to Curze’s cell became a ritual, a quest to unlock the doors of perception. Though the Night Haunter rarely cooperated, the Lion persisted, driven by a burning need to understand the labyrinthine paths of the future.
