M41 Warhammer 40K – Part 7 (Part 7 of 14)

Galactic Turmoil: A Century of War and Devastation

The 41st millennium was a time of unrelenting chaos and destruction in the galaxy. As the Imperium of Man struggled to maintain its grip on power, countless worlds were ravaged by war, rebellion, and unspeakable horrors.

The Void Whale Incident

A catastrophic event occurred when an enormous Void whale emerged from the Warp, threatening to destroy the stronghold of Perillia. The Space Wolves of Engir Krakendoom’s Great Company bravely boarded the creature and planted demolition charges, escaping mere seconds before the explosion. The resulting gas belt, known as the Perillian Gas Belt, brought devastation to nearby planets.

Chaos Pirates and Rebel Armies

Meanwhile, Chaos pirates led by the Daemon Prince M’kar claimed several uninhabited planets on the borders of Ultramar. Captain Cato Sicarius of the Ultramarines destroyed most of the pirate fleet, but M’kar escaped into the Warp. On the industrial world of Knart’s Landing, Marneus Calgar defeated a rebel army led by General Dornal in a grueling thirty-day battle.

Armored Assaults and Titan Legions

The largest armored assault since the Battle of Tallarn took place on the Planus Steppes, where the Cadian 423rd attacked and nearly annihilated a renegade Titan Legion. The Imperium suffered heavy losses, including over 8,000 tank companies and 35 super-heavy detachments.

Eldar Raids and Inquisitorial Investigations

Dark Eldar warriors of the Kabal of the Black Heart raided Imperial Munitions Relay Base 359, causing the western Imperial flank to collapse during the Irgax Offensive. A deputation from the Ecclesiarchy visited the Space Wolves’ homeworld of Fenris, only to be met with hostility and a three-week war.

Necron Threat and Crusades

The Necron threat began to emerge, with the first recorded Imperial contact occurring on Sanctuary 101. The Crusade of Wrath saw the Black Templars defeat the Word Bearers and reclaim many worlds near the Maelstrom. The Persya sector suffered under the ‘long midnight’ as Eldar pirates preyed on them for over half the year.

Tyranid Hive Fleets and Ork Waaaghs!

Hive Fleet Colossus descended upon the Imperial world of Thressiax, while Wolf Lord Bran Redmaw detailed two squads of Grey Hunters to protect the planet’s spaceport. The Tau Empire joined forces with the Imperium to stop Hive Fleet Gorgon at Kel’shan. An Ork Waaagh! led by Grimtusk Bloodboila was defeated by an alliance of Space Wolves and Eldar Aspect Warriors.

Badab War and Chaos Incursions

The Badab War broke out as Lufgt Huron, Chapter Master of the Astral Claws, revolted against the Imperium. Captain Cortez fought through the entire six-week Kardian campaign without supplies, while a Chaos incursion on Paraghast turned Patrihive into a twisted prison.

These events represent just a few of the countless battles, wars, and atrocities that plagued the galaxy during this tumultuous century. The Imperium of Man struggled to survive, beset on all sides by threats both internal and external.
