The Unending War
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, the Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by threats. The enemies of humanity are legion, and the wars that rage across the galaxy are countless.
The Badab War
One such conflict was the Badab War, a brutal and devastating struggle that saw the Astral Claws chapter of Space Marines turn against their former allies. The war was sparked by the betrayal of Lord High Commander Verant Ortys, who was killed in a surprise attack by unknown forces. The subsequent investigation and battles would drag on for years, drawing in multiple chapters of Space Marines and Imperial Guard regiments.
Aftermath of the Badab War
In the aftermath of the war, the Lamenters, Mantis Warriors, and Executioners chapters were sent on century-long penitence crusades. The Red Hunters chapter was tasked with shadowing these chapters, ensuring that they did not stray from the path of righteousness.
The Red Hunt
As the Red Hunters pursued their quarry, Commissar Ciaphas Cain found himself attached to the Valhallan 12th Field Artillery regiment. Cain, a man with a talent for being in the right place at the right time, would go on to have a storied career, facing down Tyranid Hive Tyrants and other horrors of the galaxy.
Other Conflicts
Meanwhile, other wars raged on. The Eagle Warriors chapter clashed with Feral Orks on Balur Secundus, while the Ultramarines chapter master, Marneus Calgar, led a successful defense against the Night Lords on Barathred. The Vaxhallian Genocides saw over 14 billion Imperial citizens slaughtered in a single month, and the Dulma’lin Cleansing saw the Catachan II regiment fight a year-long guerrilla war against Ork invaders.
Heroes of the Imperium
Despite the unending war, there were heroes who stood out against the darkness. The Astral Knights chapter made a heroic sacrifice to destroy the Necron World Engine, while Techno Magus Stannum Vir recovered a priceless STC relic on Jollov. These acts of bravery and selflessness were a beacon of hope in a grim and unforgiving universe.
The War Continues
As the years passed, the wars continued. The Gravalax Incident saw an Imperial taskforce prevent the Tau Empire from annexing the Imperial world of Gravalax, while the Trenor Uprising was put down by Ultramarines Scouts. The Hammeront IV regiment was destroyed in a trap, and the Departmento Munitorum charged them with desertion.
No End in Sight
The wars of the 41st millennium showed no signs of abating. As the Imperium of Man struggled to survive, the enemies of humanity continued to multiply and grow in strength. The future was uncertain, but one thing was clear: the war would never truly end.
