Ragnar Blackmane Warhammer 40K – Part 1 (Part 1 of 2)

The Unyielding Spirit of Ragnar Blackmane

In a galaxy torn apart by conflict and destruction, one legendary warrior stands tall as a beacon of hope. Ragnar Blackmane, the youngest Wolf Lord in the history of the Space Wolves, has forged a reputation as a fierce and unyielding champion of justice.

A Turbulent Early Life

Born as Ragnar Thunderfist on the unforgiving planet of Fenris, he was destined for greatness. As a teenager, his village was ravaged by a rival tribe, leaving him orphaned and consumed by anger. Yet, even in the midst of such turmoil, Ragnar demonstrated extraordinary fighting prowess, unleashing a berserker-like fury upon his enemies.

The Call to Greatness

Recognized by the Wolf Priest Ranek for his exceptional abilities, Ragnar was chosen to join the esteemed ranks of the Space Marines. He underwent rigorous training, facing numerous challenges that tested his resolve and strength. Ragnar’s unwavering determination ultimately earned him the right to drink from the Cup of Wulfen, solidifying his position among the Space Wolves.

Battles Against Chaos

Ragnar’s first mission as a Blood Claw took him to a secret Thousand Sons base hidden beneath the mountains of Fenris. Alongside his sworn enemy, Strybjorn, he confronted the Sorcerer Madox, successfully banishing him back to the Warp. This marked the beginning of a long and storied career, as Ragnar went on to face countless battles against the forces of Chaos.

The Quest for the Eldar Talisman

In his quest to assist Inquisitor Sternberg, Ragnar traveled to distant worlds, battling Orks and genestealers alike. His unwavering dedication ultimately led him to confront the Daemon Botchulaz, thwarting its escape and securing the Eldar talisman. This triumph cemented Ragnar’s reputation as a hero among the Space Wolves.

Chaos on Garm

When the Spear of Russ, a sacred relic, was stolen by Chaos forces on Garm, Ragnar joined the battle to reclaim it. Confronting Madox once more, he made a desperate gamble, throwing the Spear into a warp rift to prevent Magnus the Red’s return. Though many questioned his decision, Ragnar’s bravery saved the chapter from annihilation.

Exile to Terra

As punishment for his actions, Ragnar was assigned to the Wolfblade on Terra, serving as a bodyguard for Lady Gabriela Belisarius. There, he foiled an assassination plot and defeated the Imperial Assassin Xenothan, earning the ancient Frost Blade as a reward.

The Pursuit of Redemption

Ragnar’s journey continued as he became embroiled in a plot by The Fallen to spark war between the Dark Angels and the Space Wolves. Forming an unlikely alliance with Jeremiah Gieyus, a rival Dark Angel, Ragnar helped defeat the Fallen’s commander, paving the way for a truce between the two chapters.

The Recovery of the Spear

Swearing an oath before Logan Grimnar, Ragnar vowed to recover the Spear of Russ or die trying. Leading a strike team to the mirror world version of Charys, he confronted Madox once more, killing him with the Spear and interrupting the ritual. With the Spear recovered, Ragnar returned to Grimnar, redeeming himself and solidifying his place among the legends of the Space Wolves.
