Iron Hands Warhammer 40K – Part 5 (Part 5 of 6)

The Iron Hands Chapter: Forged in Battle

The Iron Hands Chapter is a formidable force within the Imperium of Man, with a reputation for unyielding determination and unwavering loyalty. Their history is marked by constant warfare, both against external enemies and within their own ranks. This unrelenting struggle has forged the Iron Hands into a top-heavy chapter, with many veterans but fewer scouts and initiates.

Clan Companies: The Backbone of the Iron Hands

The chapter is divided into ten Clan Companies, each based on the historic Clans of Medusa. These companies are self-contained units, responsible for their own recruitment and maintenance. Each Clan possesses a mobile Land Behemoth fortress monastery, serving as their base of operations. While materials are traded between Clans, competition and rivalry are common, often leading to open conflict.

Iron Fathers: Spiritual Leaders of the Chapter

In the Iron Hands, the traditional Chaplain’s role is fulfilled by Iron Fathers, specially trained Techmarines who protect the faith of their brethren. These Iron Fathers sit on the Iron Council, guiding the chapter’s decisions. They also serve as inspirational leaders, often equipped with Terminator armor to lead by example.

Recruitment: Forging the Strongest

Each Clan Company is responsible for its own recruitment, selecting only those with great physical and mental strength from the nomadic Clans of Medusa. Recruits undergo a grueling process, with many failing to survive the initial selection. Those who do are treated with extreme disregard, encouraged to fight amongst themselves to weed out the weak. Only the strongest survive to become full Battle-Brothers.

Notable Elements of the Iron Hands

  • Equipment: The Iron Hands employ a range of specialized equipment, including Terminator armor, Land Raiders, and unique items such as the Canticle of Travels and the Skull of Ferrus Manus.
  • Vessels: The chapter’s fleet includes notable vessels like the Fist of Iron, Red Talon, and Iron Heart.
  • Vehicles: The Iron Hands utilize customized vehicles, such as the Weyland Land Behemoth and the Cestus, Myrmex, and Metallus Gravus Land Raiders.

Leadership

  • Kardan Stronos: Master of the Iron Council
  • Malkaan Feirros: Master of the Forge

The Iron Hands Chapter remains a powerful force within the Imperium, forged in the fires of constant battle and tempered by the harsh conditions of Medusa. Their unwavering dedication to the Emperor and their unrelenting pursuit of strength make them a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
