In the grim darkness of the far future, the Ultramarines stand as a beacon of unyielding hope against those who seek to plunge humanity into eternal night. This is but a glimpse into their glorious saga, a multi-part series detailing the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the sons of Roboute Guilliman.
As the Despoiler’s forces bore down with a relentless assault, Guilliman and his Ultramarines stood their ground. This was a time of great tribulation, with the servants of Nurgle beginning to infest Ultramar. Still, the Ultramarines remained steadfast, determined to return to holy Terra. Undeterred by the growing instability in the Warp, Guilliman led a fleet of supporters on a perilous journey to stand before the Emperor once more.
The Terran Crusade was not without its challenges. Guilliman’s journey was fraught with obstacles, including the treacherous machinations of his brother, the daemon primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons. The Red Cyclops’s attempts to divert Guilliman’s path led to a detour into the Maelstrom Warp Rift and a fierce battle on Luna’s surface. Yet, Guilliman arrived at the Imperial Palace on Terra with a ragged remnant of his forces. After meeting his father for the first time in 10 millennia, he declared himself the Lord Commander of the Imperium, initiating the Indomitus Crusade to stabilize the Imperium and combat the forces of darkness.
The War of Beasts was a testament to the Ultramarines’ tactical acumen and indomitable spirit. Guided by Chief Librarian Varro Tas’s prophetic powers, Chapter Master Marneus Calgar arrived on Vigilus, establishing a new Senate to lead the planet’s defense against xenos and Chaos attacks. Despite overwhelming odds, the defenders successfully repelled an assault by Abaddon the Despoiler and the Black Legion.
During this time of strife, Calgar ordered Captain Sevastos Akaran to lead a force of Vanguard Space Marines to the industrial world of Nong Gast. There, they discovered the Black Legion had claimed the planet, using it to produce daemon engines and possessed Chaos Space Marines for Abaddon’s impending invasion of Vigilus. Despite the high cost, Akaran halted the infernal production and warned Calgar of the coming Chaos assault.
The Third War for Damnos saw the Ultramarines pitted against the Necron’s Ameran Dynasty. Despite being engaged in multiple major conflicts, the Ultramarines could not abandon Damnos after their previous sacrifices. With their resources stretched thin, they called upon their allies. Their plea was answered by contingents from successor chapters, including the Iron Hounds, Brazen Consuls, and Liberators. Despite their combined force, the relentless, numberless Necron forces posed a formidable challenge. The tide turned with the unexpected arrival of reinforcements from the Salamanders and White Scars, and together, they reclaimed Damnos for the Emperor.
